Colour Run SUCCESS!
What a great afternoon we had recently for the colour run! Our P&C really outdid themselves in organising such a fun, engaging community event. Of course, we were focussed on fundraising for a new playground and fundraise we did!
The P&C have raised approximately $15,000. A big thank you to all the families who fundraised for our school.
Our class winners with an average/student:
Prep J: $119.13/student
Prep C: $117.27/student
3C: $112.29/student
With class results so close, the P&C would like to offer both Prep classes their choice of a movie afternoon or pizza party, students can discuss with their teachers. 3C will receive an ice cream of choice for each student.
Some individual students below will be contacted via their parents regarding prizes for their phenomenal fundraising efforts:
Erling $900

Staffing news
Saying Happy Retirement to Mrs Costelloe at assembly on Monday was super memorable. We acknowledge Lorelle’s 25-year commitment to our school as a teacher aide. Lorelle and her brothers also attended Dayboro State School as students. Mrs Costelloe has been a long-time support for our DSS students and staff. She has listened and encouraged MANY students to read and learn in all areas over her time here as a teacher aide. In her community roles as President and now Vice President of the Lion’s Club, she has been a huge support for our beautiful school. We know that we will not say "Goodbye” to Mrs Costello as a DSS friend, but we farewell her as a staff member. Have a wonderful trip Lorelle and enjoy the chance to finally put your feet up and let your family look after you.

I am taking some long service leave from the end of this week through to the middle of week 1, term 4, and travelling over to Europe with my family. Karen Ryan will capably step up as Acting Principal during this time and Dee Mathieson as Acting Deputy Principal. I know these ladies will be in touch around any important end of term communications.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you the parents for your support during term 3. It has been a busy community event term and rich with learning for our students. I do not underestimate your role in ensuring that our children are here and ready for learning each morning. Our staff are extremely committed to your children and also lucky to have your support.
Have a wonderful Spring holiday!
School Calendar
Please find attached our latest school calendar V6 to keep you informed of our last couple of weeks of our term 3 events.
I have also attached the draft version of Term 4 Calendar to give you the heads up about our upcoming events. We will publish the official Term 4 Parent calendar in the last week of this term.
Have a great week!
Gabrielle

If you are yet to receive an invoice, please contact our Business Managers. All consents/permissions must be provided via Qparents. If you are not yet signed up to Qparents, we strongly encourage you to do so. If you are having any difficulties with Qparents, please contact Jill in the office for assistance.
If you have a credit on your child’s account (including siblings), you can use the credit for the above excursion. To check the credit amount, please contact the school prior to making payment.
Payment plans are always available for parents and caregivers. To arrange a payment plan, please contact the school and request to speak to one of the Business Managers. We are always willing to assist families to ensure every student has access to every opportunity.
Payment Methods & How to Pay
Dayboro State School accepts and encourages the below payment methods:
- Qkr! by Masterpass.
Download the QKR! App and register.
- Qparents
Payment can be made directly on Qparents. If you are not yet signed up, we encourage you to sign up today.
- BPOINT
You can use BPOINT in two different ways:
- Clicking on the link on the invoice, which will take you directly to the BPOINT page.
- Payment by phone using credit/debit card via BPOINT: 1300 631 073
- In Person
You can still opt to pay in person. Please note, we encourage using EFTPOS over the use of Cash, particularly in this current climate. If you are choosing to use cash, please ensure it is the correct amount as our office does not hold cash on site for change.
If students are paying by cash, please ensure they bring it directly to the office and wait for a receipt. At no time should a student give any money to classroom teachers for excursions, teachers will redirect them to the office to pay.
Statements
Families will soon be receiving Debtor Statements via email. These are to show what invoices remain owing on student accounts. Only students who have an outstanding invoice or credit will have received the statement. It is important to understand that this is not another invoice being issued to families. If you are in credit (i.e. a negative amount), this can be used against any current or future invoices you may receive, including school camps.
Please check through your statements thoroughly and advise the School if there are any discrepancies (for example, you have been invoiced for Instrumental Music however your child did not participate). Please email all discrepancies through to bsm@dayboross.eq.edu.au.
If you have a credit on your account as well as an active invoice, please contact the School to advise us if you wish to use the credit against the invoice. We cannot apply credits automatically, so please let us know and we can do this for you. This also goes for sibling accounts, as we can apply the credits from one sibling to another siblings active invoice.
If parents/caregivers have questions or concerns regarding statements, please don’t hesitate to contact one of the Business Managers – we are always more than happy to help.
Kind regards,
Clare Gault and Nichole Anderson
Business Managers
COLOUR RUN RAISES $15,000
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
We would like to thank each and every one of you who participated in our bi-annual colour run. We hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did!
This isn’t just a run—it’s our biggest fundraiser of the year, and your help and contribution has helped us raise funds for:
A brand-new playground for our kids to climb, laugh and play
❄️ And air conditioning for the school hall - because even learning deserves to be a breeze!
Days like this are not possible without the help of many. The P&C would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who fundraised, all businesses who generously donated prizes, our volunteers and everyone who ran.
You are the reason our 2025 Colour Run was such a great success

French Day – September 12
French Day at Dayboro SS will take place on Friday,
September 12 (Week 9).
Dress-up Day
All students are encouraged to dress in French theme. This could be the colours of the French flag (dark blue, white and red), a popular French structure such as the Eiffel Tower, a French food item, a bottle of perfume, a famous French person from history or the present, or a character from a cartoon, movie or story. I am asking students to be creative and use what they have at home. They can also use ideas and costumes from previous years. There are lots of DIY ideas that come up in an online search. There is no cost for dressing up.
Other ideas: a mime artist, French traditional costumes, Madeline, an artist or even the painting itself.
French Tuckshop
Thanks to our wonderful tuckshop helpers there will be a sumptuous selection of French-themed food available for pre-purchase. Watch the events section of School24.
Orders must be placed by Tuesday, September 9.
Activities
Also, I am organising some French activities during playtime on French Day. More details to follow.
Learning another language is so much more than learning just words. It encourages us to think about what shapes our views and opinions of the world.
We all have a culture; it isn’t something that we need to look for.
