Dear Families and Friends
Parent Teacher Conferences
It has been wonderful to see several parents already up at the school to have a conference with their child/ren’s teacher/s. Term 3 is a great time to check in on your learner’s progress and their goals for the semester. If you haven’t already booked in, please consider doing so via the following link:
A reminder that all conferences will be held in your child’s classroom (you will need to keep all of your children with you) unless you have booked next Tuesday 16 September or Wednesday 17 September. These two evenings will be hosted in the school hall, with child minding available. 5M bookings opened earlier for conference bookings and have been held last week and continue this week.
Spring has sprung!
Our gardening club have been hard at work as Spring begins, to replant and tidy up our Veggie garden. Many thanks to Ms Anderson and Mrs Bishell, as well as the students of 1A and 4L, who have contributed to making our gardens a special place of growth, nurturing and wellbeing in our school. We look forward to the fruits of their labours as strawberries, herbs and pumpkins continue to flourish.

We also have our much-loved Curlew pair back nesting in our school grounds. This time they have laid 2 speckled eggs right underneath our Library bridge. Our students have been watching them and have been very careful to respect their space and the eggs. Here are some photos of our well camouflaged Curlew and their eggs... and a couple of easier to see photos!

Parent Calendars
Here is our last two weeks of our Term 3 Parent Calendar. It is sure to be a busy week and a half!!! Thanks for your engagement in our activities this term.
Term 4 commences on Tuesday 7th October. Please find attached the Term 4 Parent Calendar V2 to help keep you informed.
Assembly Awards
Congratualtions to all our Assembly Award Winners this week.

Farewells
At Assembly on Monday, we farewelled Mrs Alison Hibberd. She has retired as our Tuckshop Convenor, and we thank her for her service and warm and welcoming presence in our Tucker Box and Uniform shop. We will miss you Mrs Hibberd but wish you all the best for your retirement. Congratulations to Nikita Pearson who is our new Tucker Box and Uniform Shop Convenor.

This term we are also saying farewell to Mrs Tavelardis who has been successful in securing a HOSES position at Ferny Hills State School. We have been so fortunate to have Mrs T as our Inclusive Learning teacher, and she has had such a positive impact on so many of our students lives with her caring, kind and nurturing approach to student learning and wellbeing. We are going to miss her, but we wish her all the best at her new school in this much deserved promotion.
Staffing News from Gabrielle - all the way from Portugal!
I also would like to share another change for term 4. I have been offered an opportunity to temporarily act as Principal at Albany Creek SS from weeks 2-10 next term. I have decided to accept this learning challenge to grow as a leader and also to learn from another experience to help our school. Our school supervisor is currently sourcing a replacement of our Principal role. I will let you, the community, know when a candidate is confirmed. Of course our staff team remain focused on our 2025 key priorities and are committed to maintaining our quality learning environment for the remainder of 2025.
I will see you back at Dayboro at the end of week 1, when I return to Australia (I am currently enjoying Portugal with my family).

Dear Parents
To ensure the safety of our children, could you please make sure that you abide by the parking laws when dropping off and picking up in all school carparking areas. Cruice Street parking in particular is becoming quite dangerous when people continue to park in the cul-de-sac at the top of the street.
Also, please ensure that when dropping off at the front of the school, that children walk or are walked up to the pedestrian crossing to cross the road to school. There have been a few close calls with children crossing the road to school or back to their parents cars in the afternoon, inbetween buses and other cars moving down the street.
We want everyone safe and well.
I have a large number of un-named jumpers in the office. Parents, please come and have a look if you are missing jumpers before the end of term. There are only so many things I can keep here - I will be donating things left at the end of the term.
I also have a Denim Jacket size 7 with embroidered flowers on it, a small soft toy, a wallet with nothing in it and a hair clip!...Oh and a couple of pairs of glasses and a penguin pendant.

Father’s Day Stall and Music in the Park
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
We would like to thank each and every one of you who participated in our Father’s Day Stall and baked some goods for Music in the Park.
Days like this are not possible without the help of many. The P&C would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who volunteered their time, we could not have done it without you.
We would like to make a special mention to Laura Jagersma, who did such an amazing job sourcing all of the gifts available at the Father’s Day Stall. Laura has taken on this task for both the Mother’s and Father’s Day stall for the last couple of years and we cannot thank you enough for this amazing effort.
The Tuckerbox
On Monday we farewelled our beloved Canteen Coordinator, Alison Hibberd at assembly. During the last few years, Alison has worked closely with the P&C to ensure our students and families have a consistent tuckshop service that they can rely on. She was always volunteering her time to help us with events and we are truly grateful for everything that she did for our school.
Enjoy your retirement Alison, to say it is well deserved is an understatement.
Welcome Nikita
We are so excited to welcome Nikita as our new Retail Manager. Nikita will be running both our Uniform Shop and Tuckerbox and working closely with the P&C to continue to improve our operations and provide fresh and healthy options for our students.
Please join us in welcoming Nikita, stop by and say hello if you’re doing drop off on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday.
French Day – Friday 12th September
The much anticipated French Day is happening this Friday. Your orders have been received and we’re getting all of your yummy treats ready.
Just a reminder that because this is a special tuckshop day,
the normal menu will not be available.
Next Meeting – Monday 13th October ( in person and on Teams)
Our next meeting is being held both in person and via teams and we welcome any members of the community who would like to attend.
If you would like to receive the link to the meetings, please contact Steph at secretary@dayboropandc.org.au so she can add you to the list.
We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and we look forward to an exciting Term 4.

Library News
It is almost the end of Term Three. A reminder that all students in Prep – Year 3 need to return their Library books before the end of term. Students in Year 4 – Year 6 are welcome to borrow books over the holidays, but all overdue books need to be returned before the end of term.
Remember that students in years 3, 4, 5, and 6 are also able to access eBooks and audio books using Sora. Students will need their MIS username to access this resource and need to ensure they enter their school as Education Queensland. Other online libraries, such as Moreton Bay Region Library accounts, can be linked through the app to provide access to a larger number of reading resources, including magazines.
Premier’s Reading Challenge
The Premier’s Reading Challenge reading period for 2025 is now over. Students have until Friday to return their completed reading record sheets to their class teacher. Certificates for students who have completed the challenge will be presented next term.
Have a great week!
Mrs Wilkinson
Year 3-4 have been lucky to have the expertise of Jake, from QLD AFL teaching them ball and games skills this term. By the end of term everyone was getting into the swing of the game and developing their pre-existing skills. Meanwhile yr 5-6 learnt Ultimate Frisbee, a new game for all, and after a few sessions all classes were able to self-manage two concurrent games.

TRIVIA NIGHT!
Too many "thank yous" to mention all for the shared enjoyment and support of chaplaincy with Dayboro Trivia Night. Thank you, parents, P&C, staff, and community groups and members, for helping in the lead up, volunteering and for attending.
GIRLS LUNCHTIME CLUB (Grade 5)! What a fantastic time we have had together in sharing in discussions and activities around friendship, feelings, kindness, strengths, resilience, being inspired and sharing these things with others. Gaga ball, slime making and sing-a-longs were just some of the memories made.
CHAPPY GAMES (Pre-Prep)! On Monday, it was such a privilege to meet some of our next year prep friends. Getting to know some younger siblings of our students was particularly a highlight - making connection by face or name. We sung a getting to know you song, before ball game animal rolls in the hive, and a school map chalk chase just outside and then reminding friends to keeping looking up at the beautiful school they are about to be a part of and singing a thankful song together.
Coming Up... looking forward to Grade 6 VS Staff next week in Soccer Chappy Cup.
