Family Arts Night – Thursday 5 September
We spoke about the Family Arts Night, with the students, at assembly on Monday. We reminded students that there will be many aspects of ‘The Arts’ on display for families to enjoy, so please consider coming along!
P&C have organised a sushi dinner for families to pre-purchase (closed Monday), with cold drinks (wine/beer for the adults) available on the evening. If you have missed the ordering, or would prefer a different food option, please bring along your own dinner options. There will be some tables set up in the CSA for dining, or you are welcome to bring a picnic blanket to set up. Our students have been reminded NO Food or Drinks are permitted in the School Hall. The CSA is the place to eat on the evening.
As this is a family event, supervision of all children is the responsibility of their parents/carers. This is not a drop off event. Staff will be joining in the celebrations during the evening but are not responsible for child minding. Thanks for respecting our school expectations and processes.
We are super excited to share our cultural talents with our community!
Parent Teacher Conferences
It has been wonderful to see several parents already up at the school to have a conference with their child/ren’s teacher/s. Term 3 is a great time to check in on your learner’s progress and their goals for the semester. If you haven’t already booked in, please consider doing so via the following link:
A reminder that all conferences will be held in your child’s classroom (you will need to keep all of your children with you) unless you have booked next Monday 9 September or Tuesday 10 September. These two evenings will be hosted in the school hall, with child minding available. 4B bookings link, for early next term, will be forwarded early next week.
Learning in Action!
It was wonderful to see ‘learning in action’ in 2/3C last week as they culminated their number work with a Multiplication Fair. The Year 3 students treated the Year 2 students to a variety of student designed multiplication games. What an opportunity for extension work! It was certainly a highlight of 2/3C’s week.
REBBOOT – Emotional Regulation Program
We have been launching our Emotional Regulation Program – Reboot after sending a few of our staff to training sessions. Mrs T and Ms Delisser have been working with our staff and some students already to develop our students’ emotional regulation skills. Starting with understanding their brains and what happens in their brain when they are stressed, excited or learning (to name a few conditions).
Evolving over 15 years in classrooms, homes and clinics throughout Australia, Reboot has been extensively trialled and tested. It is a highly practical neuroscience-based, trauma-transformative framework incorporating positive and developmental psychology, mindfulness and the science of behavioural change.
As we all share a common neuroarchitecture and daily set of needs, Reboot’s Whole-brain Framework and core tools address both well-being and learning engagement across all ages, from early childhood to staff development.
Reboot’s practical tools create positive behaviour change, calmer and more engaged schools and homes and happier young people.
Rebooters (community members who are skilled) are:
- Self Aware and Self Responsible
- Compassionately Connected
- Strong and Joyful
- Tenacious Learners
- Innovative Agents of Change
- Courageous Contributors
- Meaningful Communicators
We believe in explicitly teaching these emotional regulation skills to all of our students. We will continue to share with you as we start to embed these strategies in our school.

A huge thank you to Mrs Mac, Ms Anderson and Mr Makepeace and our students for working so hard to bring our Veggie gardens back to life. Some of the produce is going to be given to our Tucker Box and used on our salad wraps and sandwiches, maybe some silver beet in our bolognaise pasta sauces and carrots are yet to come. We also have parsley. Mr Makepeace and 5T donated their class potato crop to a local foodbank. What a wonderful and charitable idea. We are also thinking of having a small Market stall at 3pm bell time where parents can buy cheap herbs, lettuce, brussel sprouts, mint, parsley and so on. …This money will then be used to build more gardens and plant more crops.

Thank you to our local Kindies for supporting our Father’s Day stall again this year.

Our Vision: “To inspire students to reach their full potential in a safe, caring and educationally challenging environment.”
Thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who helped us with the Father’s Day stall last week. We truly appreciate you taking time out of your day to help the students carefully select their gifts.
The P&C hosted a total of 3 Father’s Day stalls for both the Community Kindergarten and the School. Many hours were devoted to the selection and purchasing of the items, as well as the packing and careful sorting of the stock to ensure every class had the opportunity to shop from the full range of gifts.
Please join us in thanking Laura from the Fundraising Team for such an amazing achievement!
The selection of gifts on offer just keeps getting better and better each year, you have certainly raised the bar up another notch Laura! You are amazing!

Payment plans are always available for parents and caregivers, for all excursions and activities. Our goal is to always help students to attend all activities, so payment plans can be put in place to assist families with this. We also have options for those who are struggling with Financial Hardship, so if you need to discuss any payment options please don’t hesitate in speaking to one of the Business Managers at the School.
Statements
Statements were sent home on Thursday 29th August. These are to show what invoices remain owing on student accounts. Only students who have an outstanding invoice or credit will have received the statement. It is important to understand that this is not another invoice being issued to families. If you are in credit (i.e. a negative amount), this can be used against any current or future invoices you may receive, including school camps.
Please check through your statements thoroughly and advise the School if there are any discrepancies. Please email all discrepancies through to bsm@dayboross.eq.edu.au.
If you have a credit on your account as well as an active invoice, please contact the School to advise us if you wish to use the credit against the invoice. We cannot apply credits automatically, so please let us know and we can do this for you. This also goes for sibling accounts, as we can apply the credits from one sibling to another siblings active invoice.
If parents/caregivers have questions or concerns regarding statements, please don’t hesitate to contact one of the Business Managers – we are always more than happy to help.

You can still opt to pay in person. Please note, we encourage using EFTPOS over the use of Cash, particularly in this current climate. If you are choosing to use cash, please ensure it is the correct amount as our office does not hold cash on site for change.
If students are paying by cash, please ensure they bring it directly to the office and wait for a receipt. At no time should a student give any money to classroom teachers for excursions, teachers will redirect them to the office to pay.
