A Dayboro Learner Qualities!
As we have communicated over this semester, we have been working with our students on the qualities of A Dayboro Learner.
We are super proud of our students working hard to understand these qualities and demonstrate them when learning. Look at how well we are going:

Planning for 2024 – Class Consideration
We are busy planning enrolments, facilities, resources and staffing for the 2024 school year. If you have a child due to start Prep in 2024 and have not yet enrolled, please contact our Administration Officers ASAP.
If you have any information that you would like us to consider for your child’s class placement in 2023, please email me on the principal email address, Principal@dayboross.eq.edu.au by Thursday 2 November. Please note:
- You may wish to include information about family circumstances that should be considered
- You may like to describe the qualities in a teacher that suit your child
- We do not accept requests for a specific teacher.
A reminder that we usually only have two classes in each year level, so we cannot always accommodate student grouping requests. Our staff work extremely hard to achieve the best outcomes across all class groups and we certainly consider parent information. This is a confidential request.
Please also notify, by email, if your child will not be returning to Dayboro SS in 2024, so that we can ensure our staffing and resources are as accurate as possible.
Thanks for your assistance.

Student Leadership Opportunities
We are about to commence discussing with our Year 5 students the leadership opportunities for 2024. We will also begin to include our Year 4 students in this process. After Parade next week, we will meet with our Year 5 students to discuss the application process for 2024 leadership positions and the timeline for the process.
Please see attached the leadership process and timeline for this term. We look forward to working with these cohorts of students to provide opportunities and also information for electing great school leaders.

Parent Calendar
A reminder that our Term 4 Parent Calendar (attached) has all of our school events listed. Swimming commences for Prep, Year 1, 1/2A and Year 3 classes tomorrow. I know that the teachers have sent information to parents regarding the organisation of these lessons.
Student Success!
We were so excited to recently have 3 of our students Heidi, Emily and Makynli participate in the State Athletics Carnival! What a fantastic effort for the girls to get to this level.

Emily was awarded 3rd place in Queensland in the Tetra events and will be travelling to Tasmania for the Nationals! Good luck Emily!!
Another student achievement was Matilda who competed in the Cooyar Camp Draft recently where she placed 1st place. What an achievement after all of Matilda’s hard work with training. Congrats!!!
QParents – Please sign up for consents!
Urgent news re excursions/incursions
After our Administration Officers spending multiple hours on the phone this year chasing up payments for incursions and excursions, we will unfortunately now be withdrawing students who haven’t paid from these events by the day. We do send multiple reminders to families encouraging them to complete the payments, or a payment plan. Class Teachers also send emails to remind parents. The easiest way is to sign up for QParents to keep a track of permission forms and invoices.
When doing your permission on QParents, please ensure that when you get to the end of the form you tick the small box on the bottom left of the screen. THEN, press SAVE
Below is a 'snip' of the last page.
QParent invitations have been sent to each family, but if you need assistance, please see Jill in the office. SIGN UP TODAY!
Have a great week! Gabrielle
World Teachers’ Day
On Friday 27th October we recognise and celebrate the important work our teachers do here at Dayboro State School. We are very fortunate to have a hard working, caring and supportive team of professionals who strive every day to provide a quality education for our students. This year we are also celebrating ALL our support staff on the same day, as the work they do for us and our students is valued as equally.
Every day our team at Dayboro are making a difference and we thank all our staff, for your dedication and the positive impact you deliver.
LEARNING AT DAYBORO
It has been very rewarding to see so many of our classes and students showing and practicing the qualities for being a learner that embraces challenges this week. Preps were being challenged by their teacher to learn new concepts and use technology to assist them with their learning this week. They used their IPads to scan QR codes that the teacher had prepared to help them check in on their learning. They were checking their work and making sure they had everything they needed. They still had to do the initial thinking, writing and answering but the IPad was used as a tool to assist them. Great work Preps for having a go and embracing the challenge!
PREP ORIENTATION MORNING
This term we are holding our Prep 2023 Orientation morning on Wednesday 1stNovember 9-10am. All future Preps for 2024 are invited to attend with their parents. We have already had some visits from the local Kindy’s. It is such a joy to see next year’s Preps interacting and getting to know our staff, students and each other. The Uniform shop will be open and parents will be able to have a tour of our wonderful school.

Now that the days are starting to get warmer please remember that it is an expectation that all children wear hats during play times and PE lessons. The rule is “No Hat, no Play!” Please remember to name your child’s hat as it makes it much easier to return lost hats to their owners.
Children that do not wear hats are expected to be in the CSA areas during break times.
Booklists
BOOKLISTS are ready. Bedrock Books are our preferred supplier for 2024. The BOOK LISTS are on the Bedrock Books website. Please make sure you order for the correct year level for your child/ren for 2024. Please check previous newsletters if more details are required.
Swimming for Prep, Year 1, 1/2A and Year 3 starts this week!
Children will be swimming every Thursday and Friday for 5 weeks- a total of 10 lessons. The last day of swimming will be Friday 17th November. A reminder all students will need a bathing cap and a sunshirt to swim.

This meeting is a crucial platform for parents and community members to contribute ideas, share perspectives, and collaboratively plan for the upcoming year. Your involvement is instrumental in ensuring the success and vibrancy of our school community.
Your attendance and active participation will ensure a diversity of perspectives, leading to a well-rounded and inclusive plan for our school community. Remember, every idea counts, and your input is invaluable.
Please RSVP to Johanna at secretary@dayboropandc.org.au to confirm your attendance.
If you are unable to attend but would still like to contribute, feel free to send your ideas via email to president@dayboropandc.org.au.
We look forward to working together to make the 2024 school year a remarkable one for our students.
Warm regards,

For your information we have attached the Qld Health Information Sheet on Head Lice. It explains what to look for and methods of treatment. If your child has headlice, as long as you are following a treatment plan and continue to check that all signs of head lice/eggs are gone, it is fine for students to be at school.
Library News
We have had a busy start to term 4. It’s great to see so many students remembering their Library bags and borrowing reading books. We have had a wide selection of new picture books and novels available for students. Keep an eye out for some requested spooky books coming in the next couple of weeks.
Robotics
The two First Lego League teams have been very busy preparing for their upcoming competition. All participants are to be commended for their efforts. We have seen some amazing ideas and wonderful cooperation as ideas are shared and negotiated.
We have also had our first Robotics Club session for this term (everyone was far too busy having fun in the colour run during week one). These students are working to prepare robots and coding to solve challenges on the “Super Powered” First Lego League competition mat from 2022.
Have a great week!
Mrs Wilkinson.
