End of Year Organisation
Break up Party Day – on Thursday, classes will celebrate their break up party day. Teachers will have communicated with you regarding specific arrangements for your child’s class. Students are welcome to wear free dress!
Gifts for staff - Our staff certainly do not expect any gifts at the end of the year however I know many families like to give a small token of appreciation to some staff members. A gentle reminder that staff cannot accept cash, lottery tickets, scratchies or pre-paid cards that can be withdrawn as cash. We thank you for your kind words and notes of appreciation. They really mean the world to our team!
Farewell Assembly –Thursday at 12pm at our Hall. This is our opportunity to farewell our graduating Year 6 students and other students and staff leaving. Parents and carers are welcome to attend. We also announce our 2023 student leaders at this assembly.
Clean up Day – We will use Friday as our clean-up day. There will be no formal lessons on this day.
Report Cards
Report Cards will be emailed home to parents on Wednesday and they will also be available on QParents. Staff have carefully moderated results to ensure consistency across the year level and beyond our school. A reminder that a ‘Working With’ in Prep, ‘Sound’ in Year 1-2 and C in Year 3-6 are all good results and mean that your child is meeting the achievement standard. If you have any questions about your child’s report results, please make a time to speak with the class teacher.
2023 Classes
In 2023 we are currently modelling on 15 classes. Of course, this model may change if enrolment numbers fluctuate, so we will inform parents of classes in the week commencing 16 January. Please ensure that your emails are correct so that you can receive your child’s class placement.
We will once again offer the classroom ‘Meet and Greet’, an opportunity for you and your child to meet the classroom teacher and drop off their book packs to their 2023 classroom.
2023 Staffing
I am excited to have my contract extended to remain at Dayboro State School into next year, while Mr Drummond continues his leave. I have appreciated the opportunity to lead this amazing school for the last 6 months.
Some slight staffing changes for 2023 include:
- We will say goodbye to Braedon Reis who will be transferring to Palmview State School. We thank Mr Reis immensely for all of his tutelage of our Lego Robotics club and taking our teams to compete and succeed. Mr Reis has also taught many of our students through their middle years at DSS
- Tracey Hammond will reduce to 2 days a week as one of our Inclusive Learning Teachers, as she has won a Guidance Officer position at Narangba SS and Alicia Tavelardis will increase her inclusion role to full time to work with Mrs Mackintosh and Mrs O’Dwyer to support our students
- Our Guidance Officer Angus McGarva will not return to DSS. We will welcome back Kate Ogilvie our 2023 Guidance Officer
- Ms Kylie Mitrovski will continue as Acing Business Manager
We are welcoming some new staff members next year and look forward to them sharing the Dayboro way. Our new teachers:
Sherree Anderson
Our staff very much look forward to working with you in 2023 and wish you a Merry Christmas and a safe, restful break.
Important dates for 2023 start!
Planning for 2023
If your child is leaving Dayboro State school in 2023, could you please let our admin officers know asap, admin@dayboross.eq.edu.au? Thank you.
It is not too late to enrol in Prep. Please contact our administration if you have a prep child to start in 2023.
Happy Holidays!!!
Thank you to our community for a wonderful year! It is important to work together to support our students to succeed and I certainly see at Dayboro that we are creating a village and you’ve all worked hard to create this village atmosphere. I see you looking out for other’s children. I see you being so understanding when maybe a student is having some challenges, I see you cheerleading for ALL of our students when they do well, not just your own children.
I’m so proud of our students this semester. Good luck to all the students, and their families, who are leaving us….we hope that you take a little bit of Dayboro State School with you.
Have a wonderful and safe holiday! Gabrielle
Some news from Admin....
Lost Property
This is just a quick note to remind everyone that we have got a few unnamed jumpers/School jackets and LOTS of goggles (2 from yesterdays senior carnival and most from Junior swimming) in the office. We have tried many times to make announcements and get students to come and check for lost things. If you are missing something, please come and have a look. At the end of the year we will be taking everything we have left here to lifeline.
Medication
Remember to pick up your Child's medication from the office before the end of school. We cannot keep medication here over the holidays into the new year.
New medical consent forms will need to be filled out at the beginning of next year. All medication (even that purchased over the counter, has to have a Doctors label with the Drs name and the child's name on it).
Library Books
Please return any library books or class readers that turn up to school as soon as possible
Finance
Could you please make sure that all your student accounts are completed. If you are unsure if you have anything outstanding you can call the office and Jill or Kay can look up individual student accounts.
Enjoy your break! See you all in 2023
Kylie, Kay and Jill
