On the 21st of April selected students in Year 5 participated in a RoboCoast robotics event held at Undurba State School.  Throughout the event students were encouraged to work with their partner, and other teams, to solve coding problems.  All groups coded a robot to drive in a square using coded steps, follow a line on robotics mat using a light sensor, and participate in a Sumo challenge using a proximity sensor and light sensor.   The participating students are to be commended for their perseverance when solving coding problems.

Is your family participating in the 31 Day Reading Challenge?  Visit the Scholastic website for more information and take up the challenge with your family.

Did you know reading for just 10 minutes a day exposes children to more than 600,000 words in one year?  The benefit of this word exposure is immense—reading more improves a child’s performance in general knowledge, vocabulary, reading comprehension, verbal fluency and spelling.
