Library & Maker Space News
Library
We are now in the last two weeks of the term. Please ensure all overdue books are returned to the Library before the school holidays.
Readers Cup Competition
Ten students from Year 5 and Year 6 have begun preparing for the annual Readers Cup Competition. Readers Cup is a reading competition organised by the Queensland Branch of the Children's Book Council of Australia. This year’s regional competition will be held at Kurwongbah State School in June.
Students in each team are required to read 5 novels to prepare for the competition. On the day of competition there are several rounds of questions with teams working together to provide answers. These rounds of questions can be quite challenging at times – there are a lot of details to remember! We wish all of the Readers Cup students the very best as they prepare for the competition.
Maker Space
We have had a lot of inventors continuing to build all manner of constructions in maker space over the last couple of weeks - we have seen everything from robots to doll houses being made. A special Thank-you to Mya in Year 6 who brought along some fabric to share with other students in the maker space – students used it to create clothing, toys, bags…
We would like to thank families who have kindly donated cardboard boxes – our inventors have enjoyed digging through the various boxes to use in their designs. Due to the enthusiasm of the students we are still in need of cardboard boxes. All donations are happily accepted.
Have a great week!
