Library and Maker Space News     

New Books

We have already had our first delivery of books for the year.  When we place our book orders we aim to include titles that we know our students will enjoy such as books by popular authors or books that are new titles in a popular book series. Students are welcome to suggest books to include in our Library collection.  

Remember to keep an eye out for the first issue of Book Club which will be sent home in the coming weeks.  Book Club is facilitated through the P&C and with the support of our amazing Book Club Coordinator.  All books purchased through Book Club earn rewards with Scholastic which are then used to purchase new books for the Library collection.

We would also like to thank the families who have generously donated books to the Library over the last few weeks.  We truly appreciate your ongoing support.

Borrowing

It is wonderful to see so many students making regular visits to the Library to exchange books with their class and during breaks.  Older students are making increased us of the “just right” strategy in order to choose a book.  The purpose of using this strategy is to encourage students to select a book that they can read and enjoy with confidence and independence.  Please remember to bring along library bags when borrowing.

Maker Space

Maker space has been busy with crafters, builders, inventors, coders, and movie makers over the last few weeks.  We have been very impressed with how well everyone has worked to assist and encourage each other in the maker space.  The board games and card games have been a popular choice at lunch time and it is fantastic to see students including others and sharing the equipment.
