Helping Hands News

Welcome to all our new families, and welcome back to our current families. We are excited to have another fun year running, jumping, skipping, baking, experimenting and creating!

Please ensure that all items are correctly labelled, especially hats and drink bottles. We have accrued a few items over vacation care in our lost property bucket outside the service, so please encourage your child/ren to check this next time they attend.

What happened over vacation care?

We:

  • Explored the Brickman Wonders of the World exhibition at the Queensland Museum.
  • Decorated our own ceramic elf money boxes.
  • Designed and flew our own kites.
  • Participated in a soccer skill clinic hosted by representatives of the Brisbane Roar.

Children also had opportunities to construct with blocks, play board games, help prepare morning tea and afternoon tea, participated in a melting snow experiment, and read stories to each other. Vacation care is a great opportunity for children to strengthen their peer relationships, developing a sense of belonging and promoting positive social skill development.

Our next vacation care is gearing up to be loads of fun, so stay tuned for the program to be released later this term. Current families will be notified when bookings open.

A new year means a perfect opportunity to review your bookings via the parent portal.  This helps us to plan effectively from educators and meal times to activities on offer.

If your child/ren will be absent from a session, please ensure they are marked absent on the iparent portal. This is done under the bookings tab by selecting the date/session and clicking the red x on the right. Please see one of our educators for support if you are experiencing issues making or managing your bookings. Failure to notify us of absences in after school care means educators are having to search for children and a no-show fee may be applied to your account. A reminder that bookings with less than 24hrs will need to be made via contacting the service on 0459 991 697.

Looking to join in on the fun?

Enrolling your child/ren is easy and there are no enrolment fees. Visit www.helpinghandsnetwork.com.au , click Register on the top right corner, select Dayboro as your service and fill in all the details to register your iParent Portal account and enrol. When this is submitted, we will be in touch as soon as possible to support the finalisation of your enrolment and initial bookings. If you have any issues, please contact Jenny at the service on 0459 991 697 or our customer accounts on 1300 612 462.
