Chappy's News

Hello! My name is Rachael Woodrow and I am the chaplain at Dayboro State School. I started at the school in mid Term 4 last year and it has been a joy getting to know the students, staff and wider school community. Feel free to say hello if you see me around.

A little bit about me - I am married and have a 7-year-old son. On the holidays my family loves spend time in the great outdoors with our family and friends. Camping is our favourite way to unwind. Before I was a Chappy, I worked as a primary school teacher. I also enjoy reading, sport, music and photography.

The school chaplaincy service is broad and looks unique in every school, so I’m hoping to help define it through a small series of articles in the newsletter this term. In short, the role of a state school chaplain is to provide social, emotional and spiritual support to students, parents and staff. A school chaplain is a safe person for young people to connect with at school and provides a listening ear and caring presence.  Chaplains run positive, fun activities for students and assist in fostering supportive, caring school communities. Chaplains work with the principals and teaching staff to assist with the school’s wellbeing.

Thank you for all of the support so far, I have felt very welcomed into the Dayboro community!
