Principals News

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Welcome to the 2022 school year. We have commenced the school year with 357 students, including 47 new Prep students.  I would also like to say welcome to our new and continuing families and look forward to your educational partnership with Dayboro in 2022 and beyond.  It was a pleasure to walk through classrooms today and witness smiling faces and students ready and willing to engage with learning.

I would like to say welcome to our new staff members, Ms Victoria Cook (Year 2C) and Ms Tracey Barath (Teacher Aide)  who have joined our team this year. We look forward to our new and returning staff settling in and making a great connection and contribution to our local school community.

Our teaching staff commenced work on Wednesday 19 January and engaged in a professional development program ensuring that the focus upon our explicit improvement agenda remains sharp and consistent throughout the school.  With the delay to the school year, the teachers continued to work on preparing for the school year when they were not required for supervisory duties. Their dedication and energy throughout this time was first rate and something which conveys confidence in our commitment to ensuring a high standard of teaching and learning.

Our School Explicit Improvement Agenda will be published in the school newsletter in the next few weeks.  As a community school, we encourage involvement in our school activities and invite our parents to become involved in our many events and activities throughout the year. Our P&C is always open to welcoming new members and meets every second Monday of the month.  Please discuss with your child’s teacher about the opportunities for involvement at the school.

Could I also convey my thanks for the manner in which our school community has followed the COVID-19 restrictions. The safety and wellbeing of our school community is paramount and your support is much appreciated.

School Facilities Update

Over the holidays the finishing touches were made to the new senior playground.  It looks terrific and will be a great asset to our school.  We are just waiting on the final certification and look forward to it being in service very shortly. The accessibility ramp project is continuing to unfold with the majority of the concrete works completed.  The section leading to the oval is currently under construction. The handrails are also currently being fitted and hopefully completion of the entire project isn’t too far away.

The school is scheduled for a full external repaint in the first half of this year. Tenders are currently being assessed for the job which will enhance the aesthetics of our school greatly.  Paving at the front of the school is to be replaced and a new school entrance is also planned. A new electronic school sign will also be installed at the front of the school in the first half of this year.

Students in Year 1 and 2 will also soon enjoy new furniture courtesy of the Department of Education’s School Refresh program.

P&C Meeting and Volunteers

Our first P&C Meeting for the year will be held next Monday 14 February commencing at 6.30pm via Teams.  An invitation is extended to parents and community members to attend and be part of this important parent decision-making body in our school.

The P&C has once again proposed a full schedule of events for the year. However, unless the human resources are available to assist with the events, they will not be able to be held.  Please consider if you are able to assist when the call out to volunteers occurs, usually via the P&C Facebook site.
