Look at our amazing writing!
This year we have been very focussed on developing our students’ writing techniques and what fabulous writers we have developed….
Our classes are exploring different genres of writing:
Preps are writing a new end to a familiar story and our Prep and Year 1’s are working on imaginative procedures. We will be entertained by our Year 1 and 2 narratives and our Year 3 and 4 poems about a special place. The Year 4 students are analysing advertising techniques and creating their own packaging. Our discerning Year 5 students are analysing and comparing films and books and the Year 6’s are expressing their views about authors purpose and forming a point of view about whether an information or narrative text delivers a more effective message.
Our teachers have working hard to make the learning explicit using guided writing sessions to progress their students and target the instruction. They have also spent many professional development hours discussing students’ writing samples and planning next steps which they communicate effectively to the students during feedback. Teachers have also been using their Bump it Up Walls to make the success criteria explicit for students. You should ask your child about their next step in writing!

Thank you to our teachers!
It was wonderful to thank our amazing Dayboro SS Teachers yesterday during our World Teachers’ Day celebrations. We know what an amazing job that they do each and every day keeping our students as the highest priority in their work. Thank you DSS Teachers!
Day for Daniel
It was wonderful to see our community commemorate the Day for Daniel on Monday and we had a great turn out for the walk to school. The Student Council representatives talked with our students at assembly about the 3R’s – Recognise, React and Report. I have included the attachments below to help you to talk about these important child safety messages with your children.

Have a great week!
