Diving into the learning
What a great start in our classrooms, I have loved seeing our students engaged and diving into the new content! In Term 3, we once again focus on our 2021 Explicit Improvement Agenda – Lifting student achievement and engagement through targeted teaching and feedback. It has been exciting to see the students engaged in targeted learning the teachers have identified through students’ pre-assessments or investigations of the content and being supported by the Learning Walls and Bump It Up Walls that the students and the teachers are co constructing. These learning artefacts are another way for students to receive feedback on their learning. Teachers are providing feedback through developing peer feedback routines in the classroom, using work samples to show students how to bump up their work, and providing written and verbal feedback to students.
It has been exciting to see their engagement in the learning! Just a reminder that the Curriculum Snapshots for each class are available on our school website.

Intentional Collaboration for our staff
Last week our staff embarked on collaboration with the other education services in our local area. On Wednesday, our teachers collaborated with Mt Samson SS teachers to moderate pre-writing student samples completed with our students in week 1 of this term. This Moderation allowed the teachers to unpack what the students already know and can do in this writing task. Next steps for the student/class were then planned. This helps the teacher to target their teaching for the unit. In week 8 we are excited to be moderating the summative assessment for this task to see how much our students have progressed and moderate against the standard.
Last week we also held our first Dayboro and surrounds Early Years’ network meeting. We hosted educators from Barefoot, Dayboro Community Kindy, Dayboro LEAD Childcare and Mt Samson SS. Many of our Dayboro SS Early Years teachers collaborated with their fellow educators on best practice in transitions. Monthly meetings have now been established to share educational best practice and establish the strong partnerships for the littlest people in our community!
School Review – Week 4
Last week I sent you an email regarding our School Review 4-6 August. Thank you to parents who have volunteered to speak with the reviewers in a parent group. Please let me know if you would like to join this small group to discuss Dayboro State School on Thursday from 8:30-9:00am. Below is the fact sheet to explain how positive a School Review can be for our community in providing us with affirmations about what we are doing well and recommendations for our strategic direction for the next four years. We look forward to the feedback!
Have a great week!
