Deputy's News

Dear Families and Friends

Kryan_5_Bee_s.JPG

As we begin to edge towards the end of Semester One, our students have been very busy finishing  work and assessment tasks. Teachers are also busily in the midst of marking students’ work and writing report cards.

Report Cards will be be emailed to parents in Week 10  of Term 2.

It is also at this time, that I am reminded of our School Motto, “Cultivating Knowledge” as well as our School vision To inspire students to reach their full potential in a safe, caring and educationally challenging environment.”

We strongly believe here at Dayboro school that our students should be engaged in the “richness” of learning and we strive to provide a diverse and challenging range of learning experiences that extend and encourage student creativity. We aim to provide a wide range of ways in which our students can present their knowledge and understandings and encourage all our students to have- a- go, take risks and do their best!

In my visits to classrooms this week, I have seen……  Yr. 1 using green screens to create images of their future selves, persuasive writing tasks encouraging our students to be mindful and active citizens, traditional tales with morals created for and read to a younger audience,  plays about our favourite fairy tales, Yr 5’s creating multi modal feature articles to save our endangered wildlife and Instrumental lessons and Choirs rehearsing. Chappy Andrew has also been running Dance clubs at break times. Crochet Club, Footy Club and Robo Club have also been happening every week. The “richness” of learning certainly thrives here at Dayboro and we celebrate our students and staff who support this ethos of a “safe, caring and educationally challenging environment.”

BEHAVIOUR - OUR RESPONSIBLE BEHAVIOUR PLAN

Our school has a comprehensive School Code of Behaviour with a published Code of Conduct that outlines expectations and processes followed to encourage positive relationships and ensure students perform to their potential. Dayboro State School’s Code of Conduct  can be found on the school website or accessed from the Office.

To keep things simple our code focuses on five values that encompass the behaviours that we want to see in our children.

Simply called the 5 B’s they are:

Be RESPECTFUL Of yourself, others and property

Be RESPONSIBLE    Be safe and aware

Be POSITIVE      Be kind, helpful and cheerful

Be PROUD      Take pride in yourself, your work and your school

Be TOLERANT   Be understanding of others’ ideas beliefs and feelings

We also have a Kindness Award and a weekly Principal’s Award. Once a term, in Week 10, we hold a Principal’s Morning Tea where all the Principal award recipients are invited.  A Sheriff’s award is also presented once a term to students who demonstrate outstanding citizenship and are drawn from all the students who receive a Golden Gotcha throughout the term. This is also drawn in Week 10 of each term.

A REMINDER ABOUT MOBILE PHONES

Mobile phones and smart watches are considered a valuable item and are therefore not to be brought to school by students. The risk of damage, inappropriate use or loss is extremely high.

If, due to special circumstances, parents require a mobile phone to be carried by a child, the phone must be given to the child’s class teacher for the duration of the day.

We strongly encourage students to leave all toys at home. Treasured items may go missing, be lost, or sadly, taken. If something of value is brought to school (for Show and Tell for example) the student should hand it to the teacher for safe keeping. Any items brought to school should be clearly named for safe return to the owner if lost or misplaced.
