Library and Maker Space
Library
A large number of students have been making regular visits to the Library to exchange books during breaks which is wonderful. Students are making increased use of the “just right” strategy in order to choose a book. The purpose of using this strategy is to encourage students to select a book that they can read and enjoy with confidence and independence. Please remember to bring along library bags when borrowing.
Last week our “Blind Date with a Book” display generated significant interest. Students were able to select a pre-wrapped mystery book to borrow from the display. We hope that everyone enjoyed their mystery book – even if it wasn’t a genre they would normally choose when selecting a book independently.
Students are welcome to add suggestions to our suggestion box to request the addition of different genres of books or specific titles. We endeavour to fulfil these requests with the rewards points generated from Scholastic Book Club orders.
Maker Space
Maker space has been busy with crafters, builders, inventors, coders, and movie makers over the last two weeks. It’s amazing to witness the range of activities students choose to participate in and the assortment of items they create and invent. The best aspect of maker space is watching children guide, help, and encourage each other.
We would like to say a very big “Thank You!” to the wonderful families who have recently made donations to the maker space. Cardboard boxes, plastic lids, craft paper and other crafting materials are always in demand and put to good use by our young crafters and inventors. We really appreciate the materials!

Have a great week!
