Pine Rivers District Trials

If your child is selected to attend a district trial s/he will bring home some paperwork. The front cover is for you to keep and has details about the trials, including how to pay for the trials online. Payment must be completed before attending the trials. The remaining paperwork will need to be filled in and then brought to the school office for Mr Drummond to sign off. Mr Drummond will then return the paperwork to your child who needs to take it with them to the trials. The coach and/or manager at the trials will collect the paperwork before your child participates in any activity. If your child is selected to go to more than one trial, these forms will need to be completed each time. Please see below for a full list of district trials happening for the remainder of the term.

  • Monday 11th March 2019: 12 YRS Girls Netball
  • Tuesday 12th March 2019: 10-12 YRS Boys Rugby League
  • Wednesday 13th March 2019: 10-12 YRS Boys & Girls Soccer
  • Thursday 14th March 2019: 10-12 YRS Boys & Girls Touch Football

Week 10

  • Friday 5th April 2019: 10-12 YRS Cross Country

Students who are interested in going to districts for Cross Country should be coming to the weekly training sessions at 11am on the school oval. On Monday 18th March during the normal training time, students will be timed running their age group course at school. This time trial will then determine who is selected for the district trials. Any students that are absent or cannot come to this timed training session, will have the opportunity to still be timed during one of the other training sessions with Mrs Summers on Wednesday or Mr Horne on Friday. If there are any questions regarding these timed trials, please see Mrs Braun.

Sport Carnivals

A reminder to mark down in your calendars, that the Senior Athletics Carnival (for grades 3-6) will be held on Tuesday 26th March, which is just over two weeks away. As always, families are welcome to come along and show their support to their child/ren. On the day, students will need to wear their sports uniform, including their house shirt, and bring their school hat, sunscreen, suitable running shows, a nutritious lunch and plenty of water.

High Jump Trials

To ensure the carnival runs smoothly on the day, and every event finishes on time, High Jump will be done before to the carnival, at a break time. Students wanting to have a go at High Jump for house points or to make it to districts (10-12 year olds only), High Jump will be starting this week. For students aged 11 and 12 this will be on Tuesday 12th March at 1st break up on the oval and for those aged 8, 9 and 10 will be the following week on Tuesday 19th March also at first break on the oval. As soon as students are dismissed by their teacher for morning tea, they are to meet Mrs Braun and Chappy Cam up on the oval with their hat, drink bottle and food. If for some reason your child/ren cannot attend these trials but still wishes to do High Jump, please contact Mrs Braun to arrange an alternative day.

1500m and 800m Trials

Due to time and limited space on the oval, both the 1500m and 800m for this year’s Senior Athletics Carnival will take place prior to the day of the Senior Athletics Carnival.

Students aged 10-12 years old this year, who are wishing to go to the District Athletics Carnival for 1500m will need to come to the weekly Cross Country training session, to be timed running a 1500m course. Although it is encouraged, students do not need to be attending every Cross Country training session to be nominated for the 1500m event. If selected, students will then compete at the District Athletics Carnival on the 7th and/or 8th May next term.

All points collected from both 800m and 1500m are put towards Championship trophies and individual Age Champion medallions.
