Deputy's News

Thanks.jpg

Thank you to everyone for a very calm, settled start to the year.

Thank you teachers , for all your hard work and preparation for such a smooth start to the year also. The classrooms and learning spaces looked very inviting and it was such a joy to walk into rooms and see children excited and engaging in quality learning from Day 1! Thank you, parents also for helping the transition from the holiday period to school easier for your children. It was great to see every child in a uniform, wearing a hat and arriving with named belongings to start the year off. If you are missing any items,  Kookaburra are still keeping our online ordering section on their website open through February for any purchases still needed.

  • Whole school Assembly every Monday at 9am- All parents welcome.
  • Our Special Leaders Induction Assembly will take place on Monday 18th February at 9am
  • Welcome back to our IM teacher Mr John Smallcombe.  Instrumental lessons will start Week 3 Monday 11th February for existing students only.  Beginning instrumental students will receive notes and instruments next week ready to start lessons in week 4.
  • THERE IS NO BAND PRACTICE NEXT MONDAY
  • Band practice will start in week 4 at 8am Monday 18 February.
  • All students are reminded to wait in the CSA before school between 8:15 am and 8:40 am. Children are not to wait outside classrooms or other areas around the school. When the bell goes at 8:40am students walk up to their classrooms. This is an important safety aspect and it is very important children are reminded of this expectation. Thank you parents for helping us keep your children safe!
  • DRINK BOTTLES: It is very important that children have access to drink bottles especially for PE lessons and in this very hot weather.  However, to ensure the safety of all students, could you please ensure that students DO NOT bring GLASS water bottles to schools.

 SWIMMING

Notes went home last Friday to students in Year 3 and 4.  (3OH, 3M, 4B and 4S). Invoices were sent out yesterday, Monday. There has been a ‘glitch’ which has seen some student invoices sent multiple times.  We apologise for the inconvenience this caused.  Please be assured that there is only one invoice on the system for each child.  If you have any queries, please see the office.

Please return the permission notes with payments at your earliest convenience. Final dates for notes and payments are Monday 18th February as Swimming starts on Thursday 21st February. A timetable of when each class swims will be in next week’s newsletter. It is an expectation that all students will participate as swimming is part of the school curriculum.

 ABSENCES

Please ring the school and give a reason for absence if your child is going to be away. School starts at 8:50 am and if children arrive after this time they are to go to the office for a late slip. All children departing early from school need to be signed out at the office first. It is important, especially in the first few weeks, that students attend regularly and for the whole day. Teachers in the first few weeks are setting expectations, establishing rules and routines and testing students to help cater for students needs and if children are absent during this time they miss out on this important beginning of year establishment phase.

Our Behaviour Focus this week is Week 2 – All Settings

Thank you!
