P&C News
It was very pleasing to see so many people attend Monday night’s P&C AGM (11 March), and especially the new faces from among our 2019 Prep parents. Thank you all for coming along and for joining our P&C. We look forward to a great year supporting our school and its students.
At our AGM we announced a new structure for the make up of P&C, and apart from the usual Executive comprising President, Vice President, Secretary (& Facebook), and Treasurer, our P&C roles include Uniform Shop Co-Ordinator, Tuckshop Co-Ordinator, School Banking Co-Ordinator, a Projects and Activities Team (ideally at least 4x members of P&C), and Technology/Systems. We had no nominations for the roles of President and Vice President, and as a result, both Nathan Oldfield (our 2018 Vice President) has kindly accepted to carry out this role, and I myself will continue as President, though it must be stressed, my continuing as President is only most likely a temporary arrangement, as new employment will most likely see me relocate interstate so I would need to resign and P&C would then seek someone else who would consider becoming President.
Our 2018 Secretary Mia Gillies also kindly nominated to continue on in this role, and our 2018 Treasurer Amanda King has similarly accepted to continue in this role for this year, and it was also great to have another P&C member offer to intern for the Treasurer’s role to carry on Amanda’s great work in 2020. Karen Hocking will be continuing as our Uniform Shop Co-Ordinator, and we want to also sincerely thank Lyndall Little for an extraordinary effort of twelve years in this role for P&C – super effort, well done, and many many thanks!
One new role is still vacant, that being Tuckshop Co-Ordinator, which is a revisioning of the former Tuckshop Treasurer position. We would very much like to hear from anyone who is interested to help fill this role. Our School Banking team is all ready to go – thanks all involved! And our new Projects and Activities Team has a number of people who attended our AGM put their hands up to get started in, but if anyone else is interested, please come along to our first meeting next week, and we can fill you in as to what’s involved, and we will go from there. Lastly, another new position created this year, Technology/Systems, is being filled by our Vice President Nathan.
Please note that to join P&C you must apply for membership and submit an application form (and an apology for the AGM is not sufficient under the Constitution to do so). New or renewed membership of P&C can be organised at any of our regular general meetings through the year, so please consider coming along and joining our P&C. You must be present at a general meeting to apply for membership, although applications can be accepted where an applicant can demonstrate exceptional circumstances in writing as to why they cannot be present.
Our first general meeting for the new 2019 P&C is this coming Monday 18 March at 6.30pm at the School Staff Room. We look forward to seeing you there.
Jeff Hopkins-Weise (P&C President)
