Dear Families and Friends
SUPPORT STAFF WEEK 7-11 September
This week is an opportunity to acknowledge the work done by all our school support staff to help facilitate teaching and learning in our school. Education doesn’t happen without them! In particular, we acknowledge all the wonderful work our cleaners- Gav, Sel, Marlene and Mary (especially during COVD times), our Admin/ Office ladies, Kay and Jill, our Grounds Officer George, our IT support person, Brett and our Business Manager, Kylie do. We also want to say a BIG thank you to our hard working and dedicated teacher aides who go above and beyond to support the staff and students at Dayboro.
WRITING AT DAYBORO.
At Dayboro we value creative, authentic and engaging writing for a purpose. Our goal for 2019 has been to lift the engagement of our students in writing in all its’ forms and to celebrate successes in writing. Our teachers work hard to embed the teaching of high quality writing practices in their classrooms. Teachers meet regularly to discuss and share writing samples of students and it is pleasing to see our students working so diligently on their writing goals and becoming better writers!
Here are some examples of writing goals from students across our school.
“I am learning to add interesting noun groups to my narrative.”
“I am learning to write more complex and detailed sentences.”
“I am learning how to sequence steps correctly in my procedure/ recipe.”
“I am learning how to create mood in my narrative through effective use of similes and metaphors.”
Ask your child what their Writing goal is!
