Principal's News
Dear Parents and Caregivers
It has certainly been a busy couple of weeks to start Term 3. Students were provided with a treat with a visit by Dr Cameron Stelzer who delighted students with his engaging activities. I am sure everyone enjoyed his focus on effective writing which complemented wonderfully our school focus for this year. Cameron is the author of the Scallywags and Pie Rat series of books.
Last Friday we celebrated our annual French Day. It was a real spectacle with the many French themed characters interacting across our school. Our students need to be congratulated for the effort which many took to complement the theme of the day. Well done to Mrs Taylor in the tuckshop for the excellent menu organised especially for the day. The day seems to be getting bigger and bigger each year. Log into our school Facebook page for photos of our school events.
Our COVID-SAFE Plan
Thankyou to our school community for working with us to ensure that we are compliant to COVID-19 restrictions and Queensland Health requirements. I would like to remind everyone of our protocols to ensure that we remain safe in our school.
Entry to our School :- Our school remains a controlled environment for Term 3. There is no general access to classrooms or the school grounds. The office, however, is open via a side window for payments and other enquiries. Please do not enter our school if there are symptoms of cold and flu present.
Meetings and Interviews with Teachers :- Our first preference for communication with teachers is via email or telephone. Teachers can hold face-to-face interviews at their discretion and invitation. Please note that anyone attending a classroom is required to attend the office in the first instance to complete the COVID-SAFE contact register.
Future School Events:- We are making plans for ensuring that planned events such as our Prep Information Session, Fathers’ Day Stall, and Year 6 Graduation can go ahead following the COVID-SAFE guidelines. There will be changes to the way these will run this year, details of which will be communicated closer to the time.
Keeping students at home if not well :- Our school community does this well. With some current concerns around vomiting and diarrhoea this becomes so much more important.
Our focus is on keeping our school community safe and well. Thank you to everyone for your cooperation.
Prep Enrolments -2021
We are already receiving enquiries about our Prep program for 2021. We are pleased to provide information and enrolment information anytime at our school office. However, I am able to advise that our Prep Information and Enrolment Morning will be held on Wednesday 19 August at 9.30am in our School Hall. This will be followed up with Prep interviews for all newly enrolled students from 19-23 October and a Prep Orientation Day on Tuesday 10 November.
If you have a child born between 1 July 2015 – 30 June 2016, he/she is eligible for Prep enrolment at Dayboro State School in 2021. Please note that Dayboro State School has an Enrolment Management Plan in place – please check at http://education.qld.gov.au/schools/catchment/ for further information.
We have had several enquiries regarding enrolling at Dayboro Prep from outside the catchment area. Families who view Dayboro as their school of choice are very welcome to submit an enrolment application, however the outcome of the application will not be advised until late October when available places are allocated in the order of receipt.
I would be pleased if this information could be circulated to people who are known to you and are wishing to enrol in our Prep program in 2021.
