Deputy's News

Dear Families and Friends

Welcome back everyone to Term 3!

Big events this term include Dance Fever lessons. These lessons are part of our school curriculum and will be happening every Thursday for every class. Our first lessons start this Thursday, so payments need to be finalised before then. Please make this a priority this week.

Parents will also have the opportunity this term to discuss their child’s learning progress in parent teacher interviews that are scheduled for Weeks 9 and 10 this term. These interviews may be conducted in a variety of ways via phone, email or face to face. There will be more detailed information provided later in the term.

Also remember to name personal belongings like jumpers, hats and drink bottles. We had quite a collection of items in the Lost Property box at the end of last term that we could not return to their owners as they were unnamed. Thank you for your support!

IMPORTANT PBL NEWS!   (I SAW THE SIGN…..)

KRyan_1.jpg

Exciting news…. Our PBL team (Positive Behaviour for Learning) team has been working hard on organising big, bright and bold signs  (in Dayboro school’s colours , of course) to be placed around the school. These signs clearly state our behaviour expectations for each area of the school such as the Tuckshop, Office and Playgrounds and provide an effective visual reminder to all- students, teachers, and visitors about how to Be Safe, Be Respectful and Be a Learner in all areas of our school. The rules have not changed and continue to be taught in classes and on Assembly in a positive and supportive manner. Our signs are a further way of helping students to make positive behaviour choices. Thank you to our clever team of teachers, teacher aides and office staff for working together to create these designs. They look amazing.

Author Visit – Dr Cameron Stelzer, The Story Doctor

On Wednesday 22 July, we have a special visit from Author and Illustrator Dr Cameron Stelzer. Dr Cameron is visiting Dayboro State School to run workshops with our P-6 students. Prep and Year 1 students will enjoy an interactive Big Screen Book Reading and follow-along drawing activity with Cameron. Year 3-6 students will be taking a behind-the-scenes look at creating a book, and applying their own creative components. Students and teachers are looking forward to a great day!

Our Learning Team has organised this visit to be conducted at no cost to our families. We, as a school, are providing this visit to enrich, engage and inspire future budding authors in our school and to help all children gain an insight into how an author works. Thank you to our Learning team for putting this event high on our agenda of engaging and encouraging all our learners to love writing and reading.

In conjunction with the Author Visit, Dayboro SS families have a special opportunity to purchase signed and personalised copies of Cameron’s books at special prices. Individual books are $15 each and there are also exclusive book sets available. Students will receive an order form on the day of the workshops. Forms and payment can be returned the following day, Thursday 23 July.
