Principal's News

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Welcome back to Term 3.  I hope everyone enjoyed a restful break and are now ready for another busy term.

During Term 2, our way of doing business as a school was interrupted by the impacts of COVID-19.  This pandemic had us rethink and realign our school processes to ensure that the health, safety and wellbeing of our community was safe guarded.  I would again like to thank our school community for your understanding and support during this time.

At this time all processes put into place in Term 2 will remain and any variances will be promptly communicated to our school community. Upon advice received from our Department, it is most likely that the current restrictions will remain in place for the whole of Term 3.

I would also like to extend a thank you to Sergeant Ken and his team of School Watch volunteers who keep a close watch on our school during the holiday breaks. This is much appreciated by all our students and staff.

Mandatory Attendance and Late Arrivals to School

Up until the end of Term 2, parents had the option of keeping students home for medical reasons or with concerns about Covid-19.  This period has now ended and parents are advised that all students should now be back at school, unless absent for illness or have a medical certificate to suggest otherwise.  More stringent measures will be employed from this week to follow up upon non-medical related absences. It is important that the office is advised of all student absences.

Of increasing concern is the number of late arrivals to school and the portion of time that some students are missing in the mornings.  Mornings are prime learning time and some students are missing valuable learning, usually reading tuition, at this time. Please give consideration to arriving at school on time and assist your child’s teacher in maintaining an uninterrupted momentum in the classroom.

School Opinion Survey Closes this Friday

Thankyou to the many families who have already completed the Parent Opinion Survey.  This short survey will provide important information for our future planning and your input is valued.  There is still time to complete the survey – it closes this Friday.  Have your say by clicking on the link below.

Prep Enrolments -2021

GDrum_Prep_Enrol_Now.jpg

We are already receiving enquiries about our Prep program for 2021. We are pleased to provide information and enrolment information anytime at our school office.  However, I am able to advise that our Prep Information and Enrolment Morning will be held on Wednesday 19 August at 9.30am in our School Hall.  This will be followed up with Prep interviews for all newly enrolled students from 19-23 October and a Prep Orientation Day on Tuesday 10 November.

If you have a child born between 1 July 2015 – 30 June 2016, he/she is eligible for Prep enrolment at Dayboro State School in 2021. Please note that Dayboro State School has an Enrolment Management Plan in place – please check at http://education.qld.gov.au/schools/catchment/ for further information.

We have had several enquiries regarding enrolling at Dayboro Prep from outside the catchment area. Families who view Dayboro as their school of choice are very welcome to submit an enrolment application, however the outcome of the application will not be advised until late October when available places are allocated in the order of receipt.

I would be pleased if this information could be circulated to people who are known to you and are wishing to enrol in our Prep program in 2021.
