Deputy's News

Dear Families and Friends

Kryan_5_Bee_s.JPG

Our first week back with all our students was a very busy one! We celebrated some key events in our yearly calendar even though it was in a socially distanced acceptable way.

On Wednesday we celebrated National Simultaneous Story Time day. The book chosen this year was Chicken Divas written and illustrated by Lucinda Gifford. Children across Australia all read this book at the same time and then were involved in activities afterwards. Our children were entertained at the library with activities and a special reading of the book. A special thanks to Mrs Wilkinson and Mrs Hetherington for organising this special day.

We also held our annual event “Under 8’s day” although it was a very scaled back celebration this year. The Preps had a PJ, Picnic, Play day and spent the day doing a range of fun activities that supported the theme of Under 8’s week across Australia this year “Play. Playfulness. Engaged Learners.”

All other students in Yrs 2-6 will be let go from the CSA as per usual and walk straight to classrooms.

In the afternoons, Preps and Year 1’s will be released at 2:50pm and collected by parents in the garden area outside of the Prep rooms.(if needed)  All other children will line up for buses, childcare and OSHC as per usual. Thank you to our new Chappy Andrew and St Aidan’s Anglican church for organising the delivery of chocolates and home knitted beanies for our staff. We loved the beanies.

What a lovely gesture!!!

Exciting News! Dance Fever is back and we have the go ahead to run our usual program next term. So…during Term 3, as part of the school’s The Arts – Dance Program and Smart Moves Program, all students will be participating in weekly dance lessons run by the company Dance Fever, Australia.

The program of 10 thirty minute lessons will start in Term 3 on Thursday 16th July and continue every Thursday for the remainder of the term. Each class will participate in the lessons learning a range of suitable dances. The emphasis of the program is on enjoyment, social skills and learning something different in the way of physical activity. The program is designed specifically for Primary Schools.

Having participated for the last six years we are well aware of the benefits of the program and the enjoyment and skills gained by the students.

The cost of the program is $30 for the term, working out to only $3 per lesson.

Please assist us to make this program a success by paying promptly and ensuring full participation.

Dance Fever have adjusted their curriculum to ensure correct social distancing requirements and appropriate activities are in place for each class. A note will be going home this week and invoices have been sent out.
