Prep News
Preps have become familiar with routines and have settled in well to their new learning environment. There are a few things you could do as parents to support ongoing well being as young learners.
Naming Belongings
We have noticed many student items are not named. This makes it very difficult for us to ensure they find their way home. Please make sure the following items are clearly labelled:
- Jumpers and Tracksuit Pants
- Bags (names on the inside of bag for safety)
- Spare Clothing
- Containers and Water Bottles
Spare Clothing
Does your child have a set of spare clothes in their bag? The following items can be kept in a plastic bag in their school bag.
- Full uniform or school colour clothes
- Underwear
- Socks
- Jumper for cooler weather
Saying Good-bye
Even the most confident child will sometimes be upset when saying good-bye at school. As distressing as it is for you, keeping it positive helps them to recover and start their day of learning.
Eating Times
We have noticed some beautiful lunches. Healthy food choices such as sandwiches, wraps, cheese, fruit and cut vegetables are easy to eat and sustains their energy throughout the day. Please refrain from giving them too many sweet choices as this can affect behaviour and learning. If your child has tuckshop, please remind them what their main meal is going to be and what they need to eat first. We are happy to put ordered cold and frozen foods in the fridge if they run out of time to eat them.
Curriculum News: Biological Sciences
This term our Prep learners are discovering how scientists observe by using their senses. We are investigating the needs of living things by sorting and determining their characteristics. As part of our learning experiences we are growing grass seeds and observing weekly changes. In the next few weeks we are going to focus on family pets and what they need to survive.
