PE NEWS

Hat & Drink Bottles for PE

Just a reminder that students must be bringing their school hat and drink bottle to school every day for play time as well as Physical Education (PE). Not all lessons are done undercover in the CSA, and the weather has been very warm to us lately, so a drink bottle with some nice icy cold water is recommended. Making sure that both (hat and drink bottle) are clearly labelled with their name is also helpful if it happens to go missing.

2020 Pine Rivers District Trials

Please find below the 2020 Pine Rivers District School Sport Calendar. The dates provided below, are for students aged 10-12 years old this year and who are wishing to trial for the district team. If your child/children are interested in attending any of the below trials, they MUST know the rules and have exceptional experience in the sport, for instance, have played at club level or somewhere other than just at school. Results from our big three school carnivals (Cross Country, Athletics & Swimming), will be used to determine who represents our school in these three sports. If you have any further questions about the selection process or below trials, please contact me via the school office. A copy of the sports and dates below, can also be found on the Student Notices board, outside the school office.

Swimming Success!

Congratulations to Carla B., Emily W., Bronte W. and Zeke Z. for a successful swim at the recent Pine Rivers District Swimming Trials. These students will now compete for the district at the Met North Regional Trials, happening tomorrow at the Lawnton Pool. Carla and Bronte are competing in the 50m Backstroke and Emily and Zeke are competing in the 50m Breaststroke. Well done and all the best!

Cross Country Training

We are now into our third week of Cross Country Training, yet students are still allowed to come along and join in, if they haven’t already done so. These training sessions are for students in years 3-6 and happen every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning from 8:00am on the school oval. This is a great way to start your child/children’s day, and to help them get ready for our School Cross Country Carnival, happening on Tuesday 24th March. If your child/children did not receive a permission form and would like them to partake in the program, they can ask for one from their classroom teacher or myself.

In addition to our school-based training session, is Parkrun, however it is not school organised or associated. Parkrun happens every Saturday morning from 7am and is held at numerous locations around Brisbane. The closest places, to Dayboro that have Parkrun include, Petrie, Ocean View and Warner Lakes. This is a FREE weekly event, organised by volunteers in the community, where you are timed running a 5km course. Some locations also offer pacer weeks, where people will help you pace yourself to finish within a set time. I am a regular participant of Parkrun and highly recommend getting involved if you can. Please come say hi if you happen to see me at one of the above Parkrun’s…. I am happy to help with pacing and encouragement.

Another great opportunity for some training, not to be missed, is the Queensland Running series. Details for this series is in the flyer below.
