STEAM Visit to Pine Rivers State High School

Last Wednesday, 24 excited students from Years 3 to Year 5 participated in a challenging and fun day at Pine Rivers SHS as part of a regional initiative to extend skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, The Arts and Mathematics. Students were ‘physicists’ for the day, completing an investigation on Light and Shadows in the first session, followed by an investigation on Insulators after lunch. In the afternoon our ‘physicists’ investigated squishy circuits’, using special playdough as a conductor to join up circuits to power small LED lights, a fan and a buzzer.

All students are to be congratulated on their enthusiasm, persistence and exemplary behaviour. They represented their school with pride! Many thanks go to Mrs Campbell and her helpers at the high school who worked hard to prepare the resources and activities for the day, and for driving everyone to the high school and back to Dayboro.
