Deputy's News

Dear Families and Friends

Well, we are almost halfway through the term and the children have certainly been working hard on their learning goals! Below are 5 key questions you could ask your child about their progress or day at school:

  1. What did you learn today?
  2. How did you do?
  3. What did you do if you didn’t understand?
  4. How can you improve on your learning?
  5. What are you most proud of?

The last question is particularly empowering and will help your child reflect on their successes and achievements throughout the day and term.

Student Leaders

Last Monday we recognised our School Leaders and Student Councillors at our Student Leader Induction and Badge Assembly.  Thank you to the parents and community members who provided food for the Morning Tea afterwards. It was a marvellous spread!

I am always reminded at this special event of the following quote “that leadership is not a position or a title, it is action and example.” Having worked closely already with our School Leaders I feel very confident that they will steer and guide our students well in 2019.

As part of our Leadership program we are again fortunate to be able to send 15 Yr 6 leaders to attend the National Young Leaders Day this Friday. Thank you staff and parents for supporting this day! Student Leaders from schools all around Brisbane will be attending this day and our leaders will be given the opportunity to network and learn from each other. There are also a variety of guest speakers such as Cate Campbell and Coen Ashton, as part of the program and hopefully our students will be inspired by their journeys and speeches. Finally, best of luck to all our leaders!  May you have a productive and rewarding year in your roles.

Thank you from Mrs Ryan.

Our Vision: “To inspire students to reach their full potential in a safe, caring and educationally challenging environment.”

  • We also ask that parents remind their children of the arrangements for pick-ups in the afternoon. We have had quite a few children not sure of how they are getting home in the afternoons. While they are still getting into routines it helps if you give them a reminder in the mornings of how they will be getting home and where to meet.
  • Also a BIG reminder to send plastic/ metal drink bottles only to school. Some children are still bringing glass bottles and we have had some accidentally dropped on the concrete. They shatter and glass is spread everywhere causing a safety concern for other students and staff.
  • Please when ringing in your child’s absences remember to give a reason for absence.  We are required to enter a reason for absence on our rolls.

Thank you parents for your prompt return of permission forms and payments for swimming. The Year 3 and 4 students had their first lessons last week.
