Deputy's News

Dear Families and Friends

COMMUNITY PARTNERS – A look back at Term 3!

As we head towards the end of term, I have been reflecting on what a busy term we have had in Term 3. When I think back on all the events we have had such as Ice Cream Day, Tree planting Day, Medieval Fayre, Walkathon, STEAM days, Yr.  5 Camp, Father’s Day stall and many more events,  I am constantly amazed at how our community here in Dayboro and our surrounds, work so hard to support our school. The community connections we make and work hard to maintain are always guided by what is best for our students and we are always looking for ways to extend and enrich their experiences here at Dayboro.

So, a BIG thank you to ALL our community partners from our local high schools, kindy and Day Cares, our Police and Emergency Services, parent volunteers, community volunteers for reading and camps, tuckshop volunteers, our local council and government agencies, our P&C and LCC, our local supermarket and real estate agents, local Lions, Progress Association and Men’s Shed representatives and many more organisations who help to make our school great.

WRITING AT DAYBORO.

At Dayboro we value creative, authentic and engaging writing for a purpose. Our goal for 2019 has been to lift the engagement of our students in writing in all its’ forms and to celebrate successes in writing. Our teachers work hard to embed the teaching of high quality writing practices in their classrooms. Teachers meet regularly to discuss and share writing samples of students and it is pleasing to see our students working so diligently on their writing goals and becoming better writers!

Below are some samples of Yr 1 writing! The Year 1’s are currently writing Retells of Indigenous Narratives. The below samples of writing are just the Beginnings of their retells!!! Many of their narratives are 6 or more pages long. Very impressive Year 1.

While we are showing off some excellent work, here are some samples of artwork completed by some students in 1/2A.  Beautiful work!

Parent Teacher interviews continue until the end of this term. Please make a time to visit with your child’s class teacher as it is an excellent opportunity to check in on your child’s progress in all areas.
