Deputy's News
Dear Families and Friends
On Monday afternoon, parents, teachers, Mr Drummond and I were treated to an afternoon of musical entertainment at our annual Spring Soiree. It is so wonderful that we can recognise and support so many special interests and talents in all areas at our school, whether it be sporting, academic or musical. Mrs Almond and Mrs Edwards certainly take great pride in nurturing our Choir and Instrumental students and look forward to giving them plenty of opportunities to perform for others. Last term the choir visited our local Conversation Club and performed for them. This term our Instrumental Band performed and competed at The Pine Rivers Show and next term they will also be performing at the Peninsula Music Festival. Of course, this wouldn’t be able to happen without parent support in helping children to practice, driving them to rehearsals (early starts!) and encouraging their children to participate as much as they can. Thank you parents! Thank you to Mrs Almond and Mrs Edwards for a fabulous afternoon!

We have also been celebrating a wide variety of talents, singing, dancing, miming, comedy and gymnastic routines in our annual Dayboro’s Got Talent competition. Chappy Cam has been auditioning students every week and the finals for P-2 students are being held today. They Yr 3-6 finals will be held next week. We will let you know the outcome next week. We really do have lots of talent here at Dayboro!
WRITING AT DAYBORO
At Dayboro we value creative, authentic and engaging writing for a purpose. Our goal for 2019 has been to lift the engagement of our students in writing in all its’ forms and to celebrate successes in writing. Our teachers work hard to embed the teaching of high quality writing practices in their classrooms. Teachers meet regularly to discuss and share writing samples of students and it is pleasing to see our students working so diligently on their writing goals and becoming better writers!
Here are some examples of writing goals from students across our school.
“I am learning to add interesting noun groups to my narrative.”
“I am learning to write more complex and detailed sentences.”
“I am learning how to sequence steps correctly in my procedure/ recipe.”
“I am learning how to create mood in my narrative through effective use of similes and metaphors.”
Ask your child what their Writing goal is!
Thanks to Mrs Mills and the Yr 4 and 5 Teachers and to Bray Park High teachers for organising for our students to attend the Medieval Fayre at Bray Park high today. I’m sure they enjoyed it immensely.
DATE CLAIMER: Thursday 12th September FAMILY DANCE NIGHT 5:30-8:30. See you all there.
Have a great week!
Thank you from Mrs Ryan
Our Vision: “To inspire students to reach their full potential in a safe, caring and educationally challenging environment.”
