Opti-Minds Update
Opti-MINDS Challenge Congratulations!
Last Sunday 19 excited students from Years 3-6 participated in the Brisbane North Regional Opti-MINDS challenge. They all did Dayboro State School proud. Not only was their behaviour exemplary, but they presented their solution challenge with pride, confidence and a great deal of enjoyment. To our great delight, the Language and Literature Team received an Honours Award at the Presentation Ceremony.
All three teams had to complete a Spontaneous Challenge, in which they had 10 minutes to prepare a solution to a problem as a team, and a Long Term Challenge, for which they had been preparing for the last 6 weeks. Team 1, the Engines, completed a Science and Engineering Challenge; Team 2, the Wise Wizards, completed a Language and Literature challenge and Team 3, The Socialites, completed a Social Sciences Challenge. Thanks to all the parents who gave up their Sunday to support their children and to Mrs Ryan for coming along to support our teams.
It was a fabulous day and it was great to watch two of Mt Samson SS teams do their presentations as well. Students are to be congratulated on their enthusiasm, dedication, resilience and creativity as they worked together as a team, meeting three times every week a week all term, without any input from adults. It was great fun!
Many thanks,
Linda Smith and Millicent Mackintosh (Team Facilitators)
