RoboCup

Lib_RoboCup.jpg

Congratulations to the 14 students who attended the RoboCup competition at Morayfield East State School last Thursday.  The three teams worked together with amazing team spirit and supported each other through their challenges.  The Dayboro Destroyers and the Dayboro Strikers both competed with fantastic consistency in the Cup Clearer competition.  The Dayboro Dancers performed their human & robot dance routine beautifully and achieved third place in their competition! Fantastic effort, everyone!

New Books

The new titles on display in the Library this week belong to a category we are calling “Fan Favourites”.  Each of these books are the most recent title release in a book series that is currently popular with our students.

“George and the Great Brain Swappery” is the second title in the Pepperton series written by comedian Cal Wilson – the first book in this series was very popular during Book Fair.  The “Ninja Kid” and “Hot Dog” books written by Anh Do have been consistently popular choices with students in the middle school.

Book Week

Another category where authors and illustrators can be nominated to win awards during Book Week is “Picture Book of the Year”.  Entries in this category should be outstanding books of the Picture Book genre in which the author and illustrator achieve artistic and literary unity or, in wordless picture books, where the story, theme or concept is unified through illustrations. Ages 0-18 years (NB. Some of these books may be for mature readers).

Our choice to win in this category is “The All New Must Have Orange 430”.  In this cheeky story Harvey, the main character, must decide what to do after falling victim to excellent advertising that has persuaded him to buy a thoroughly useless object.

Upcoming Book Week events:

Lib_Meerkat.jpg
  • August 21st– Book Week Character Costume Parade
  • August 22nd– Meerkats Book Week performances for P-2 and 3-6.
