Principal's News

Dear Parents and Caregivers

It was a pleasure to host representatives from the Dayboro Men’s Shed and the Dayboro Progress Association at assembly yesterday.

The two associations have kindly loaned a handmade “Connect 4” game to our school on an ongoing basis for our students to use during break times. The game was presented to the school on assembly yesterday.

At Dayboro State School, we value the partnerships that we share with local organisations and the impact that our local community has upon our student learning. Thank you very much to both groups- the students will certainly enjoy the new addition.

School Opinion Survey- REMINDER

G_drum_school_opinion_survey.png

Envelopes containing details about the 2019 School Opinion Survey were sent home with the eldest in the family last week.   This is an important survey for our school, and I would like to encourage as much participation as possible.

Each year, our Department of Education undertakes a survey of parents/caregivers to gauge their satisfaction with important aspects of schooling.  All families are invited to participate in the survey using the personalised username and password contained in your envelope.

I hope that everyone will consider completing the survey before the closing date of FRIDAY 23 AUGUST. Please do not hesitate to contact the school administration if any further information is required

 Show Holiday

I wish to advise that Dayboro State School will be closed next Monday 12 August for the Brisbane Show holiday.

Junior Sports Day

Our Junior Sports Day will be held this Friday from 9.00am on our school oval.  This is a fun filled event and involves our students from Prep to Year 2.  It is generally finished around the 12.30pm mark. Parents are very welcome to come along and join in the fun – please bring your toddlers because there is also an opportunity for a toddler’s race.

Please note that our tuckshop will be closed on this day and the P&C has made a decision to not provide any food stalls this year.  Please make sure your child has a hat and plenty of food and water for the day.

Dayboro State School Alumni News

Dayboro State School is very used to producing sporting champions and on this occasion it is a pleasure to acknowledge three of our previous students who are

representing Australia in Touch Rugby. All three students, Chelsea Steffensen, Kristin Steffensen and Poppy Buckland recently represented Queensland at the State Touch Rugby Competition against New South Wales and then were subsequently chosen to play for Australia in the upcoming Trans-Tasman Championships in October.  Kristin and Poppy were selected in the U16 mixed team and Chelsea was selected in the U18 mixed team.

It is a wonderful achievement to be selected for an Australian team in any sport and we wish the girls well for the competition in October.

Prep Enrolments -2020

Garry_2020.png

We are already receiving enquiries about our Prep program for 2020. We are pleased to provide information and enrolment information anytime at our school office.  However, I am able to advise that our Prep Information and Enrolment Morning will be held on Wednesday 28 August at 9.30am in our School Hall.  This will be followed up with Prep interviews for all newly enrolled students from 14-18 October and a Prep Orientation Day on Tuesday 12 November.

If you have a child born between 1 July 2014 – 30 June 2015, he/she is eligible for Prep enrolment at Dayboro State School in 2019. Please note that Dayboro State School has an Enrolment Management Plan in place – please check at http://education.qld.gov.au/schools/catchment/for further information.

We have had several enquiries regarding enrolling at Dayboro Prep from outside the catchment area. Families who view Dayboro as their school of choice are very welcome to submit an enrolment application, however the outcome of the application will not be advised until late October when available places are allocated in the order of receipt.

I would be pleased if this information could be circulated to people who are known to you and are wishing to enrol in our Prep program in 2020.
