What’s happening at Helping Hands?

We have had an exciting two weeks of vacation care fun. In the first week we went up to Maleny to the dairy farm where children got to experience milking a cow and learning what goes on before the milk hits the shelves at the supermarket. This excursion was a favourite among the children who attended vacation care!! The first week also saw the children learn how to make a ferris wheel with lego in our first incursion, develop their cooking skills, make fake snow and assorted jewellery and key rings. In the second week, we tested our fitness skills and our tenpin bowling excursion saw the children and educators compete to get the highest score (Congratulations to Miss Jenny for outscoring us all and to Grace.G for coming a close second)! We also explored African music through drumming, dancing and singing as our second incursion. The children also explored the culture of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in acknowledgment of NAIDOC week. Next vacation care will surely be just as exciting, so keep a look out for when bookings open for it to join in the fun.
