School Cross Country Carnival – Wrap Up
Well done and thank you to everyone involved with our School Cross Country Carnival last Tuesday. The weather couldn’t have been any better for a morning of running and all our students put in an incredible effort for themselves and their house. It was wonderful to see all of our students from Prep to Year 6 come together, to cheer on each other, and so many families join in on the action too. Congratulations to the winning house, Rush, who finished with a massive 256 points, followed very closely by Armstrong on 249 points and then third place was Terrors with 186 points. Congratulations to everyone that participated and had a go.
There are many people responsible for making the Cross Country Carnival a success every year, including Mr Briskey for having the grounds beautifully maintained and prepared; our recorders Mrs Cassell and Mrs Wilkinson for doing all the calculations of points; Mr Drummond as announcer and keeping our students organised; Mr Horne for starting each race on time; Mrs Summers for getting our students warmed up; our place judges Mrs Mathiesen and Mrs Blair for sorting place getters; Mrs Robinson for catching all the action on camera; all our course marshals for directing and encouraging students on course; and the teachers on crowd control, for keeping house spirit up and students so well behaved. A big thank you goes to our House Captains, especially Shelby H. and Ashley B. for arriving super early at school and helping Mr Briskey and myself with setting everything up for the carnival, managing the water station, running with the Prep and Year 1 students, and also staying behind once the carnival finished, to help pack up. It is wonderful to see our leaders volunteer their time to help others which sets a great example for others to follow. Thank you very much House Captains!
Each year I am always looking at ways to make our sport carnivals bigger and better, so if you have any constructive feedback for me, please let me know via email at jbrau28@eq.edu.au or through one of the ladies in admin. Hope to see you at our next sport carnival which will be the Junior Sports Day for Prep to Year 2 students, next term. More information about this will become available later next term.
PE Class of the Week
Congratulations to 1/2A for your preparation and practise with Cross Country in PE. This isn’t the first time the class has seen the trophy, so well done for working hard to get the trophy again. Keep up the great work!
