Principal's News
Dear Parents and Caregivers
Thank you to everyone who supported the School Disco last Friday night. A big crowd of students were suitably attired in their Western outfits and our enthusiastic DJs from Dance Fever ensured the night was enjoyable and successful for all. Our wonderful P&C once again supported the event with the canteen and prizes for the evening. A special thank you to Craig Doyle Real Estate for sponsoring the major prizes on the evening. Thank you everyone!
Sheriff’s Awards
Congratulations to Lachlan J and Olive C who are the recipients of this term’s Sheriff’s Awards. The rewards, which include a certificate and a book voucher were presented on assembly yesterday. In Term 3, nine students will be selected for the Principal’s Award with all recipients eligible for the Sheriffs Awards on the final week assembly on 16 September.
School Watch – Look, Listen, Report
Thank you to Sergeant Ken and his wonderful group of School Watch volunteers, who will be looking after our school and its grounds during the winter holiday. If anyone in our school community sees or hears anything suspicious please report this to School Watch on 13 17 88. Your continued support and assistance are greatly appreciated.
School Annual Report
The 2018 School Annual Report has been uploaded to the school website at www.dayboross.eq.edu.au . The link to this is located on the home page.
Dayboro Show
Each class has been working extremely hard to ensure their show boards are ready for the 64th annual Dayboro Show being held on 6th and 7th July this year. We hope as many people as possible will be able to visit the school work section at this year’s show to see our student work being proudly displayed. Thank you to our students and staff for their hard work in showcasing this colourful and creative work.
Staff News
It is a pleasure to welcome back Mrs Jess Hitchens from Maternity Leave in Term 3. Mrs Hitchens will share Year 3OH with Mrs Oberg and will work the first three days of every week.
Also returning from Long Service Leave at the beginning of Term 3 is Mrs Susan O’Dwyer who will return to Year 2MO on Thursdays and Fridays.
Woolworths Earn and Learn
Thankyou to everyone who has supported this promotion to date. As of Monday 24 June, we have collected over 34 680 stickers. Today is the last day the stickers will be available in stores.
As we have to report the numbers of sheets we have collected during the school holidays, it would be appreciated if all sticker sheets could be returned to the school office by this Friday. In 2017, we were able to purchase about $3000 worth of classroom supplies for our students as a result of the Earn and Learn campaign.
If you have a child born between 1 July 2014 – 30 June 2015, he/she is eligible for Prep enrolment at Dayboro State School in 2019. Please note that Dayboro State School has an Enrolment Management Plan in place – please check at http://education.qld.gov.au/schools/catchment/ for further information.
We have had several enquiries regarding enrolling at Dayboro Prep from outside the catchment area. Families who view Dayboro as their school of choice are very welcome to submit an enrolment application, however the outcome of the application will not be advised until late October when available places are allocated in the order of receipt.
I would be pleased if this information could be circulated to people who are known to you and are wishing to enrol in our Prep program in 2020.
Holiday Break
The school winter vacation commences this Friday 28 June. Term 3 commences on Monday 15 July. Enjoy a happy and safe holiday.
