Deputy's News
Dear Families and Friends
At Dayboro we have a carefully planned program for selecting our School Leaders the following year. The selection process involves a written application, an interview with our Leadership team and a prepared speech to their teachers and peers. This process starts in Term 4 and applications and interviews occur early in Term 4 every year.
The School Captains and the rest of the Yr. 6 Leadership team are then involved in many leadership opportunities throughout the year of their tenure. They assist with Sports Carnivals, help out with Under 8’s days, attend Student Leader Cluster meetings, undergo Leadership workshops and are generally seen as important role models for other students.
Last Tuesday, our School Captains, from 6C and 5/6F, were also very fortunate to attend a special Cluster visit to Parliament House at the invitation of our local MP, Ms Nikki Boyd. Over 30 school leaders from schools in our local area attended. Our leaders got to see our Parliament at work, with the Budget about to be handed down and many of our MP’s walking around in discussions. They visited the Legislative chambers, the old and new Parliamentary annexes and had an amazing lunch provided for us on the rooftop level overlooking the Brisbane River and South Bank. As always, our School Captains represented our school with pride. They were highly engaged and participated with respect and thoughtfulness. They answered some very challenging questions and weren’t afraid to speak up. Congratulations Max, Amy, Zaisha and Oscar on representing Dayboro so well! You certainly lead by example and hopefully will inspire our current Year 5 students to apply for leadership positions in 2020!
