District & Regional Trials
District trials for our 10-12 year old students has almost finished for the year. Please read below for further details on what trials are still left to happen. More information can also be found on the Pine Rivers District Sports website at http://www.pineriverssport.qld.edu.au/ or alternatively come see me on Monday or Tuesday.
We wish Cruz A. and Rohnan M. all the very best for Tuesday 28th May as they compete at the Met North Regional Cross Country Trials. It is a big achievement to get to this level in any sport and we know that they will do our school and district proud. Cruz has also qualified for the 800m event for Regional Athletics and so we wish him good luck for next week as well.

School Cross Country Carnival
Already it is time to get ready for our annual Cross Country Carnival which is happening in just 3 weeks’ time, on Tuesday 18th June from 8:50am. Students are encouraged to participate and wear their house shirt on the day. They should also bring with them their water bottle, sunscreen, suitable running shoes and school hat. The order of events is listed below, and families are, as always, welcome to come and watch their child/children. Students will still need to go to their classrooms at the beginning of the day for roll marking and then walk up to the school oval with their classroom teacher.
- 12/13 Year old Boys & Girls – 2km
- 11 Year old Boys & Girls – 2km
- 10 Year old Boys & Girls – 1.5 km
- 9 Year Old Boys & Girls – 1.5km
- Preps – 500m
- Grade 1 – 500m
- Grade 2 – 1km
- Grade 3 – 1km
Students (except for Prep – Year 2) will compete in the age they are turning or have already turned this year. For example, if a student was still yet to turn 10 years old on the 1st of July then they will compete in the 10 year old race, or if they have already turned 10 on the 1st of February then they will also run in the 10 year old age group. The course will be clearly marked out on the day and students will also have the opportunity to walk their course during their PE lesson in the coming weeks. This year there will be only 2 courses marked out, a 500m and 1km course. For the age groups doing 1.5km this means that they will need to do 3 laps of the 500m course and those running 2km will do 2 laps of the 1km course. Both boys and girls for each age group will be out running their course together, however there will be a 1 minute gap between them starting. Our younger students in Prep to Grade 2 will also have some older students running with them to ensure they run the correct way. We look forward to seeing everyone up on our scenic oval.
PE Class of the Week
Congratulations to 1/2A for your wonderful cooperation in PE last week. It was lovely to see and hear everyone work so nicely in groups, to take turns with skipping and being the rope turner. Keep up the great work and you may see the PE trophy again this term. Well done 1/2A!
