Testing and Assessment
Teachers regularly monitor and assess students’ knowledge, understanding and application of learning throughout all units of work. Teachers use a range of diagnostic assessment tools to track individual progress in literacy and numeracy so that they can best support each student with their learning needs.
Reporting
Formal assessment of units of work is conducted regularly and parents receive 2 x written reports each year (Term 2 and Term 4) in addition to parent/teacher interviews at least twice per year (usually Term 1 and Term 3). Parents are always welcome to approach teachers for more regular progress updates. Making an appointment via email, telephone or in person will ensure that a suitable time for both parents and teachers is established.
NAPLAN
The National Assessment Program-Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual assessment for all students across the nation in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. NAPLAN is made up of 4 tests in the areas of Reading, Writing, Language Conventions (Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation) and Numeracy.
NAPLAN tests skills in literacy and numeracy that are developed through all subject areas in the curriculum across time. These tests take place mid Term 2 for Years 3 and 5.
