Supporting the Engagement of our students
We are continuing to work on our 2025 Annual Implementation Plan, and with our Key Priority 2: To promote positive student behaviour in learning through a whole school approach to support student engagement and wellbeing.
Chappy Hannah is one of our DSS secret weapons in terms of student engagement! Chappy is available to support students with any worries they may be having, is proactive in building up our students’ skills, like her Yr5 ‘Girls group’ and also creates a sense of fun and happiness like last weeks Chappy Week activities. Tuesday was of course PANCAKE DAY! Our students loved the opportunity to have a hot delicious pancake for brekky. We had so many community members volunteer – thank you to or Chaplaincy Committee and our local Lions Club, who always support our school.

Chappy also ran a Gaga Ball lunchtime club for the year 2 classes on Friday. They loved the opportunity to play this fast paced and fun game together, supporting each other and celebrating the winners of the game. Thanks Chappy Hannah for all that you do for our students and our community!

Junior Cross Country
This week also saw our youngest learners join in and have fun at our Junior Cross Country. The weather managed to hold off and a great time was had by all. Our Kindy Community was able to join us for a race and had a great time being supported by our Parent and School community.

School Review
A reminder that we are currently still collecting feedback from our whole community about our school for our school-led school review. Over the last week, our Student Council reps have been gathering information from our students. Below is a snapshot of our students’ responses to our question: What do you like about our school?
Reconciliation Week
Last week, Claire, our Indigenous Ambassador, spoke to our students on assembly about the significance of Reconciliation Week and challenged our students and staff to commit to achieving a fair Australia for everyone. Our staff have been working with our students to share their thoughts about reconciliation.
The 2025 theme for Reconciliation week: Bridging Now to Next urges us to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us. At a time when Australia faces uncertainty in its reconciliation journey, this theme calls on all Australians to step forward together. In the #NRW2025 theme artwork created by Kalkadoon woman Bree Buttenshaw, native plants − known for regenerating after fire and thriving through adversity − symbolise our collective strength and the possibilities of renewal. This is a time for growth, reflection, and commitment to walking together.
In her Indigenous Ambassador role, Claire has been sharing stories with our students to help them understand the history behind Reconciliation Week and more specifically, Sorry Day.
Next Monday Claire will talk to the students at assembly about Mabo Day, another important day to recognise in our Australian History.
Renovations at Helping Hands House
We are super excited that the painting has been completed at the Helping Hands house and that OSCH are able to return this week. Thank you to everyone especially the helping Hands staff for being so flexible. We look forward to being able to once again use our lovely cottage!

Student Success
We have had super success in the sporting space with our senior students!
7 of our year 6 students are off to the Regional Touch Football, after being selected through the district sports trials. Congratulations to Imogen , Georgia, Abigail, Isla , Karsyn, Liam and Leo! We can’t wait to hear how you progress!
Karsyn also recently competed at the regional Cross Country Carnival and came 6th place in the region. Karsyn has now qualified for the State Carnival in July. We will be cheering him on!
