Principal's News

Connecting with Community!!!

We have had the opportunity to link to our community in several ways this term already!!!

Our school commemorated ANZAC Day with our school service on 24 April. We were lucky to have parents Mr Glenn Wright and Mr Christian Macdougall help our students by speaking with them about the significance of ANZAC Day.

It was great to see how many of our DSS families also attended the Dayboro ANZAC Day March and Community Service. How proud the students were to march/ride under the Dayboro State School name or other community groups!

This weekend, of course was the Dayboro RODEO!!! What another wonderful community event. It was so good to see so many of our families attending. We had some students competing too…. congratulations to Matilda, Abigail, Sam, Hattie and Flo. It was an honour to see you participating and showing all of the hard work you obviously put into your sport!

THANK YOU P&C for providing a community service at the Rodeo – having a child friendly tent with great snacks, activities and the famous chocolate toss. Not to mention the wonderful raffle! Great job team!

Our P&C also provided the community an Election BBQ on Saturday. What a team!!!!!

Engaging our students – Lunchtime Clubs!

We have really been working hard this term to engage our students. One of the ways we can provide enrichment activities is in the form of Lunchtime Clubs or special activities like our Friday Rodeo inspired bush dance. We really try to follow our students’ interests to guide the clubs that we offer. Some of the recent favourites have been:

  • Maker Space in the library where the children can get creative!
  • Gardening club
  • Loom bands
  • Wellness club
  • Mosaic club
  • Bush dancing
  • Mentoring - Year 6’s mentors played with the 2D class last week
  • Prep mentors – Year 6 students play games with our preppies

Of course, these clubs would not be possible without the overwhelming support of our staff who volunteer to spend extra time engaging our students!!! One of our year 3 students said after the recent Bush Dance - “I love how the school provides treats for the students. It’s like Christmas because we get spoilt and I love dancing!”
