Principal's News

Welcome back!

Welcome back to all of our Dayboro State School community for 2025. It has been a fantastic start welcoming the students and seeing them settle into their classrooms and explore their new play areas and activities. It is great to see so many smiling faces ready to learn! A very special welcome also to our 45 new preppies and their families, as well as to all of our other new students across the school.

Our 2025 Dayboro State School Explicit Improvement Agenda is:

Precision in the teaching of reading and a focus on positive student engagement.

We look forward to working with our community this year to ensure success for our students.

Our Dayboro SS staff worked very hard last week to ensure that the learning environments were thoughtfully prepared. The teachers collaborated to plan the teaching and learning to meet the needs of each student, providing quality and engaging learning. Our first two days have been extremely smooth with our students being introduced to the learning routines and their new units of work. We look forward to great learning as the term progresses.

Transitioning to a new year level can be an exciting but sometimes daunting experience. As your child settles in, there may be some adjustments required. The teachers at Dayboro SS are working hard to ensure that you are fully informed about the organisational structures within their classrooms. They will have also shared with you information about the year level Curriculum Overview. Talking to your child about their learning and their new class will assist them to transition. Please do not hesitate to ask your child’s teacher if you are unsure of procedures, we are happy to help out.

Class Information Sessions

On Wednesday 12 February, we will hold our Class Information Sessions for parents, in the afternoon between 3:10-5:45pm to share more about individual class structures and procedures. Feedback has been that parents valued having all of the information sessions on one afternoon evening making it easier for parents and to help our school community to meet each other. On the afternoon, school staff will be in the library to look after any school aged children while parents attend their session (year 5 and 6 students are welcome to attend their session with their parents). A timetable is attached below. While we have tried very hard to separate year levels for families, I am aware that there are a couple of clashes. If a clash occurs, please consider sending a parent to each of the sessions. Teachers will send follow up information for parents who are unable to attend.

Please see times and classes for sessions below: All sessions will be in the classrooms

Before School Routines

We have had a great start to the year with our students being super keen to get to school to see their friends. A reminder of some beginning of the year before school routines:

  • Year 1-6 students need to arrive after 8:15am and head to the CSA for supervision. Helping Hands will take the Year 1-6 students in their care to the CSA at 8:30am. Our first bell rings at 8:40am.
  • Prep parents are encouraged to drop off at the Prep rooms at 8:40am. Helping Hands will take Prep students in their care to the Prep rooms at 8:40am. Prep students on buses or with older sibling may wait in CSA.

Thank you for your cooperation. A great start to the day can make all the difference to the school day.
