Deputy's News
Dear Families and Friends
Well, it’s getting closer to the end of term and the last few weeks are looking busier than ever. Parent Conferences will be held in Week 8,9 and 10 this term. Please take advantage of this valuable opportunity and organise a time to speak with your child’s class teacher. You can make a time through the SOBS booking online system and the link has been sent via your class email as well as an email sent to all parents from Mrs Douglas. This term we have offered two late evening sessions on Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th September to accommodate working parents. These sessions will be held in the hall and will be the main sessions when interviews will be held. Teachers have already sent links where you can book and they have also made some other times during the week when they will be available.
Just a reminder also that over the last two weeks of this term, teachers will again be involved in curriculum planning in their Professional Learning Year Level Teams. Please be aware that there may be different teachers on your child’s classes in Weeks 9 and 10 while teachers are released off class to collaboratively plan and moderate with their Year Level teams.
As we head closer to the holidays, it is important to remember to remind children to keep focused on their work at school and at home.
Reading and revising work learnt in class, is an important part of being prepared for learning and revising concepts taught in class, at home, helps children at school. I would encourage all children to be reading or read to every night!
FAMILY DANCE NIGHT- DATE CLAIMER
WRITING AT DAYBORO.
At Dayboro we value creative, authentic and engaging writing for a purpose. Our goal for 2024 has been to lift the engagement of our students in writing in all its forms and to celebrate successes in writing. Our teachers work hard to embed the teaching of high-quality writing practices in their classrooms. Teachers meet regularly to discuss and share writing samples of students and it is pleasing to see our students working so diligently on their writing goals and becoming better writers!
Yr 2 are creating Multi-Modal procedures purposefully written to be delicious or disgusting depending on their audience. So much fun and such clever use of adjectives and adverbs to enhance their writing.

You can also help your child to write at home by trying a few of the suggestions below:

FATHER’S DAY STALL- DATE CLAIMER
Wednesday 28th August - Our P&C and their band of helpers have been working tirelessly to prepare for our annual Father’s Day stall. Once again, the children will be very excitedly choosing and purchasing their gifts for their Dads. There are special Dad packs available.
We hope all our fathers, grandfathers and special others have a fabulous day.
Optiminds
This Sunday we have two teams competing in the Optiminds competition for the North Region. They have prepared a response to a challenge and have to present to the judges. They also have to complete a Spontaneous challenge where they will need to come up with creative problem solving on the spot and work as a team. Mrs Mac has been working closely with our teams and we thank her and wish them all the best for Sunday.
