PE News

YEAR PREP:

During PE in term 3, students will develop the fundamental movement skills of dribbling a large ball with the hands as well as striking skills using a range of equipment. Students will be assessed on their coordination and movement patterns when dribbling the ball and striking a ball with equipment.

YEAR ONE and TWO:

During PE in term 3, students will develop the object-control skills of overarm throwing a small ball and controlling and hitting a ball with hockey sticks. They will also apply rules and fair play practices. Students will discuss characteristics of physical activity that takes place indoors and outside. Students will be assessed on their coordination and movement patterns when overarm throwing and striking with a hockey stick.

YEAR 2/3, THREE and FOUR:

During PE in term 3, students will develop catching, throwing and striking skills through games and activities linked to teeball. They will also develop skills to work in a team including respect and fairness and learn to identify game strategies such as positioning. Students will be assessed on striking skills, throwing and catching skills and on fair play and sportsmanship.

YEAR FIVE and SIX:

During PE in term 3, students will develop striking skills through games and activities linked to tennis. They will also develop skills to work in a small group including respect and fairness and learn to identify game strategies such as positioning of the ball. Students will be assessed on striking skills, game skills and on fair play and sportsmanship.
