Principal's News

Welcome to Term 3!

It was lovely to see our students return for term 3 and we have certainly hit the ground running by diving into our Term 3 units of work. Staff work super hard to make the learning engaging and challenging. Our teachers have sent out your child’s Curriculum Overview for Term 3….this can be a great conversation starter when speaking to your child about learning. On the Semester one report cards, the teachers outlined some next steps for English and Maths. Students will be setting goals to match these next steps for learning. Please contact your child’s teacher if you would like to discuss their progress further. Formal Parent Teacher Conferences will take place at the end of this term.

Please find attached our Term 3 Parent Calendar V2. Please note that we will be having a Gardening Working Bee THIS SATURDAY 8-11am. If you and your family are available, please meet our staff near the fig trees (please note that children need to be accompanied by an adult for the morning). You are welcome to bring your own gardening gloves, we have plenty of children’s gloves. On our list for the morning is: Weeding, planting, rubbish removal. We look forward to making our grounds look beautiful!

150 Years celebration coming up!

We are getting very close to our 150years celebration days. Thank you to our hardworking committee which is made up of community reps, staff reps and P&C reps for all of their careful preparation of our historical displays, our student celebration activities and of course our community day which will culminate in the Bush Dance!

On Friday 26 July, all of our current students will participate in some fun events to mark this historical event. Please see the flyer below for details. Students will be welcome to dress up in historical clothing if they wish or wear a current or historical uniform.

Please let your child’s class teacher know if you would like to help out on the day.

Celebrating our P&C

On Monday, we celebrated our P&C on assembly, with students making some cards to share with this hardworking team. We are so grateful for everything this committee brings to our school and community.

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)

Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines.

Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:

  • year of schooling
  • category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional
  • level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.

This information assists schools to:

  • formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools
  • consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools
  • develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.

The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.

The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy (https://www.education.gov.au/privacy-policy).Further information about the NCCD is outlined in the attached Parent Fact Sheet.

If you have any questions about the NCCD, please feel free to contact Gabrielle Douglas - Principal, or Alicia Taverlardis - Inclusion Teacher.
