Principal's News
Reporting
Our dedicated teachers have been working with our students to complete their unit works for this term and help our students work through summative assessment tasks to assess what they know and can apply. Our teachers are expert in providing feedback and adjustments where necessary so that our students have the best chance of demonstrating what they can represent about their learning.
To ensure a consistency in judgements, our teachers over the last few weeks, have been engaging in moderation sessions with fellow staff members. At the end of this term, they will review each student’s folio of work to make on-balanced judgements for reporting to parents.
The first semester report cards will be distributed to parents, on Thursday 22 June online via QParents. Emailed copies of our report cards will be sent on Friday 23 June. It is important to recognise that the Australian Curriculum achievement standards clearly outline the expectations of a ‘C’, ‘Sound’ or ‘Working With’ standard. If your child attains a ‘C' for their achievement, this means that they are on target for their age and year level.
Please contact your child’s class teacher if you would like to discuss any components of the report card. We will offer parent teacher conferences again in weeks 8 and 9 of Term 3. We look forward to continuing the partnership with parents to help your child be successful at school.

Senior Athletics Carnival
We are super excited about our Senior Athletics Carnival this Friday (Mrs Marks has explained the program below). The Year 3-6 students have been learning about athletics this term and so are well prepared for the carnival. We welcome parents to come along to cheer on our students. If parents are able to volunteer, we would welcome the assistance, just let Mrs Marks or one of the event staff know on the day.
There are a couple of events which are tricky to fit in to the 1-day schedule. We ran the 800m races yesterday afternoon and were certainly impressed with the participation and cheering! Next Tuesday 18 June, we will run or 1500m races during first break just for the students who want to compete in this event for Year 4-6 students.
Our P&C have generously offered a zooper dooper to every DSS students to thank our community for their chocolate donations for Dayboro Day. Our Year 3-6 students will receive this on the oval on Friday. Our Prep-Year 2 students will receive their zooper dooper at second break on Friday. Don’t forget to order you and your child’s BBQ lunch from the Tucker Box on Friday. Senior students’ lunches will be delivered to the oval.
Prep-Year 2 students will participate in their Junior Athletics Carnival next term, Friday 19 July.
150 Years Celebration!
We are certainly getting close to our 150 Years Celebration now! On 26 July, we are excited to be celebrating 150 Years with our students. We have a full day planned with old school activities together with an olden style classroom to visit. Should be a super celebration for our current DSS students.
Saturday 27 July will be our community event. Please find attached an invitation, and an order of events for this day. I explained to the students on assembly this week that the tickets for the Bush Dance are now availble for purchase through School 24. There is a QR code on the Order of Events or you can use the link: https://www.school24.net.au/canteenorder/guest/event?ezp=2333
Our wonderful P&C are also currently selling 150years merchandise via School 24. They will be at the Dayboro Show with more merch available. Thanks P&C!
A huge thanks to our 150 years organising committee for planning an amazing celebration for our school and wider community.
