Principal's News

I received some fantastic news this week, I have been granted the permanent role of Principal here at beautiful Dayboro State School! After 3 years of acting in the role, I feel privileged to be given the opportunity to lead this beautiful school. Thank you to the community for all of your support over the last 3½ years. I look forward to the future plans to continue to foster an amazing learning environment to support and enrich our Dayboro Students’ learning and wellbeing.

Community!

What a celebration of community in the last couple of weeks! Dayboro Day was such a positive day for our community and for our students. The Choir and Band performed confidently sharing their joy, our Flash Mob with Chappy Hannah and Mr Makepeace lightened up the crowd and our DSS student reps at the march showed the community how proud they are of our little school and its history.

I wanted to express a HUGE thank you to our P&C members and Chappy for their fabulous work on the raffle, stall and chocolate throw!! Long day for all but it was an amazing demonstration of how dedicated our community are to our school.

I am sure that you will also agree that the Dayboro Rodeo was a great celebration of community. The organising team collaborated with the school to create this opportunity for us to join in the fun, and we supported by running the Poster Competition and the Wear your Cowboy Hat Day. Our P&C again ran an amazing Kids Area providing some great activities to engage kiddies and even contributed to the cleaning roster to raise funds for our school. In total they raised $1500. What a team! The Rodeo committee have thanked our P&C with comments like:

The Kids Area was truly invaluable to our 2024 Dayboro Rodeo. It's heartwarming to know that our collaborative efforts helped create a safe and enjoyable space for families at our event. The $1,500 raised through the P&C's participation is not only a testament to Laura's and your dedication but also a significant contribution towards enhancing one of our most important communal assets, the Dayboro State School.

The success of the 2024 Dayboro Rodeo is a testament to the strong sense of community spirit in Dayboro. We're grateful for the opportunity to showcase this spirit alongside Dayboro State School P&C and all the other local Dayboro community groups.

Our school is so fortunate to have such amazing community backing. We treasure this support and love to give back where we can to enrich the community.

Reconciliation Week

This week our Indigenous Ambassadors spoke to our students on assembly about the significance of Reconciliation Week and challenged our students and staff to commit to achieving a fair Australia for everyone. Our staff have been working with our students to share their thoughts about reconciliation and our Indigenous Ambassadors have also been sharing stories with our students.

Student Success

We love to celebrate our students’ successes outside of school as we know how much hard work and persistence is involved in their extracurricular events! In the past few weeks, we have had the following students celebrated at assembly:

  • Lily rode in the Darling Downs Regional Equestrian Championships where she came 5th overall in Show Horse and 8th overall for Dressage.  Lily has now qualified for Show Horse, Combined Training and Dressage for the Inter-school State Championships in June and will be proudly representing Dayboro State School.

  • Flo and Hattie competed at the Rodeo in the barrel race and Hattie rode the poddy with all their Dayboro friends cheering them on!
