Principal's News

Parent / Teacher Partnerships

Parent /Teacher partnerships are super important to your child’s success at our school. We understand that you know your child the best and as such can help our teachers to understand their personality and motivations to support your child in their learning journey. A reminder that our Parent Teacher Conferences will be scheduled for the last two weeks of this term. The way to book a conference with your child/ren’s class teacher is through the SOB’s link:

If you would like to speak to one of our specialist teachers or inclusion teacher, you

can make a booking by emailing that staff member.

Please be aware of the following organisation for our conferences:

  • Bookings will close on Friday 15 March to allow for teachers to prepare their interview schedule and have your child’s work samples ready to share with you
  • The two late nights for interviews are Wednesday 20 March and Thursday 21 March. These interviews will take place in our School Hall. If children are in attendance (and not involved in the conference), there will be some activities at the back of the hall to engage them with support staff supervision
  • The interviews NOT scheduled on the afternoons of 20 and 21 March, will take place in your child’s classroom. Please ensure that you keep all children with you on these occasions as we have no child minding available. Children are not permitted to be on the playgrounds before and after school.

We look forward to working together with you to support your child to thrive here at Dayboro State School.

Striving for Excellence and Equity in Curriculum

As part of how we are helping our students strive for excellence and equity in their learning as planned in our 2024 explicit improvement agenda:  A whole school and community approach; striving for excellence and equity in curriculum and engagement ensuring high expectations for all.

Our staff regularly collaborate sharing teaching strategies, including feedback strategies, to support our students to understand how they are going with their learning and what are the student’s next steps for learning. While fostering a growth mindset, we are committed to ensuring that students understand their learning goals as next steps.

Our committed teachers have also been collaborating with the students to set up engaging learning environments. The Learning Walls and Bump It Up Walls to include specific tools and reminders of lessons taught for the students to use in their learning. It has been wonderful to see, on our visits to classrooms, how the students are engaging with their learning walls and contributing their ideas to share with their classmates. Our students regularly share how they use this learning to support them when showing what they know and can do.

Our teachers have also been discussing with students how they can use these learning walls to get feedback on how they are going with their learning. Why not have a chat to your child about the learning environment they are setting up with their teacher?

Every Day Counts towards learning!!

We are well into our crucial learning for semester 1. It is so important that all students attend every day and stay the whole day at school. Regular school attendance gives students a better chance at life. Our students achieve better when they go to school all day, every school day because:

  • they have increased access to learning opportunities
  • they maintain friendships
  • they stay connected to the curriculum progression
  • they develop self-efficacy as a learner
  • they have better long-term life outcomes.

To help your child to be the best learner they can be and socially connected to their friends, please ensure that, unless your child is unwell, they attend every day and remain at school for the whole day. Important learning areas are still covered in our afternoon sessions. Thank you for your dedication!
