Representing our school with pride

It is important to remember that whenever we go to sporting events, instrumental/choir performances, camps or are just out and about in the community, our students are expected to represent their school with pride. This is an important part of being RESPECTFUL and BEING PROUD. Two of our core values. These expectations can be shown in many different ways, from wearing the correct uniform to being considerate of others in the community. The feeling we get when someone outside of our school says, “Wow! Those Dayboro kids are really well-mannered” or “I am really impressed with their behaviour”, is really encouraging and something to be celebrated.

A few ways you can encourage your child to represent their school with pride is:

  • ensuring they are wearing the correct uniform and it’s neat and tidy;
  • discussing behaviours that are appropriate when out in the community;
  • role-playing scenarios of interactions with others; and
  • talking positively with your child about their school experiences and encouraging them to talk and think positively about their school.

Together, we can make a positive impact on the lives of your children and equip them with the skills to BE RESPONSIBLE, RESPECTFUL, POSITIVE, PROUD, KIND, TOLERANT citizens.

Talking about being out and about in our community- Yes… our annual

Easter Hat Parade is back on!!!

Prep to Year 2 only

We love how the whole community comes out to welcome us as we walk through the town and finish with a small concert on the stage to celebrate.  This will be on the last day of the term Thursday 28th March at the Roderick Cruice Park stage at 9:45am.

WHAT ARE GOTCHAS??

Gotchas are reward tickets that are usually given at eating and playtimes to students who are “discovered” being safe, respectful and kind in the playground. A range of staff give these Gotchas out. They are then put in the special Gotcha boxes at the office and every week at Assembly two students are drawn out from each year level to receive a small prize and an ice block voucher for the Tucker Box. Sometimes class teachers give Gotchas out for class time rewards as well.

Here is a wonderful example of how Gotchas work and how they are explained in Prep.

SO… WHAT ARE “GOLDEN” GOTCHAS??

Golden Gotchas are given out for outstanding effort in class and at play at lunchtimes. Students who show our 6 Values- Be Respectful, Responsible, Positive, Tolerant, Proud and Kind consistently throughout their day and across the term are given a Golden Gotcha. These Golden Gotchas then go into the draw for The Sheriff’s Award. At the end of each term Sgt Ken draws out two students who then receive a certificate and a gift voucher to recognise their outstanding efforts.

A reminder that next week , Week 8, is the last week of swimming. All parents of Yr 2 students are invited to attend their last swimming lesson on Friday 15th March. This is instead of a Junior Swimming Carnival/Showcase at the end of the year. The Prep and Yr 1 classes will be doing the same when they swim at the end of the year.

Times for the Yr 2 Swimming lessons are:

2B 9:30-10am

2D 10-10:30am

Looking forward to you all coming along to watch how far they’ve come!!!

KRyan_Important_NEW.jpg

Please remember that children are expected to wait in the CSA before School between 8:15am until the bell goes at 8:40am. The children are supervised during this time.

There should not be children playing on equipment or waiting outside classrooms before this time. A reminder that all mobile phones should be put away in bags on entry and exiting the school. They should then be handed to the class teacher on arrival to class.

BUS BEHAVIOUR

KRyan_Bus.jpg

It has come to our attention that some students have been behaving inappropriately on the buses. The bus driver has a very important job to do and that is to get our students safely home. They cannot be distracted by students that cannot control their own behaviours. Please talk to your students about appropriate behaviours on the bus such as sitting still, (not moving around) talking quietly to the person beside them (not shouting at others) and certainly keeping their hand and feet to themselves (not hitting or contacting others with objects). Please help to keep all our students safe by reinforcing with your students how important it is that the bus driver can concentrate and get our students to and from school safely.

NAPLAN

A reminder that Years 3 and 5 will be taking part in the annual NAPLAN Online assessments from Wednesday 13th March until Friday 22nd March. Please try to ensure that students are on time especially during this period and also please limit outside appointments during school time and planned absences if possible. Mrs Douglas has published the timetable for these sessions.

KRyan_Playgroup.jpg

Playgroup is back on!!!! This Friday morning 9-10am. Starting at the Helping Hands House beside our lovely school. This is an exciting opportunity for parents of younger children in our community to meet and have their children engage in high quality play-based learning and socialisation activities provided by a trained facilitator, usually a member of our school staff.

Looking forward to seeing our usual Little Learners (MAC!!!) and hopefully some new ones too.
