Principal's News

GD_Pic_1.jpg

We are super focussed on our 2024 explicit improvement agenda:  A whole school and community approach; striving for excellence and equity in curriculum and engagement ensuring high expectations for all.

Our staff have been working on engaging our students by designing their lessons to include super engaging teaching strategies. As a result, our students are having an opportunity to be active learners, sharing their learning with each other.

Here are a couple of examples of the engaging teaching strategies in Science – Year 1 are engrossed in being scientists and producing detailed scientific labelled drawings. Year 2/3 are making their learning visible and working together to classify plants and animals.

We are excited about our learning!

Random acts of kindness week!

GD_Pic_6_Kindness_poster.png

This week we have been working on our value of being KIND, using the Random Acts of Kindness week as a stimulus for how we can be kind to our community. It was lovely to start the week with a Be Kind award from each class and the teachers have been working with their students on some great examples of how they can show kindness in their world.

Maybe you could have a chat to your child/ren about how they have spread some kindness this week?

A Dayboro Learner

We are continuing to teach our students the qualities of a Dayboro Learner. In the first few weeks, we worked on be a great communicator like Coco the Cockatoo. This fortnight we are explicitly teaching our students about collaboration and the skills to use to collaborate as a learner. At assembly, we discussed real life examples of this:

We know, as adults, what an important skill collaboration is in our lives, both in the work place and at home. We look forward to developing this quality in our students.

P&C AGM Monday 11 March – why don’t you join us?

Would you like to help our school to partner with parents and respond to the community’s needs? Why don’t you join us for our AGM then P&C meeting on 11 March, 6:30pm in our Dayboro State School staff room. Being part of the school’s P&C is a wonderful way to meet other families and it also models to your children how invested you are in their school community.

On Monday night 11 March, we will be electing the roles for our P&C executive and committee. It is important that we get a full executive committee in order to continue to support the school. No previous experience is necessary….we all have fun learning together. We invite you to attend and /or nominate for a position or simply as a committee member for 2024. Position descriptions are below:
