The tuckshop will also be providing meals and drinks from 5:30-6 and families can have a picnic on the grass in between dance sessions.

WRITING AT DAYBORO

At Dayboro we value creative, authentic and engaging writing for a purpose. Our goal for 2023 has been to lift our student’s writing through the use of clear success criteria and goal setting and identifying where to next in their writing to make their writing even better and more engaging for their chosen audience.

Teachers meet regularly to discuss and share writing samples of students and it is pleasing to see our students working so diligently on their writing goals and becoming better writers!

Here are some examples of writing goals from students across our school.

“I am learning to structure my writing using key points and details of who, when, where and how.”

“I am learning to write using a variety of more complex and detailed sentences.”

“I am learning how to write a funny rhyme using rhyming pairs.”

“I am learning how to create mood in my narrative through effective use of similes and metaphors.”

Teachers give feedback and students also use the Bump It Up walls to check on their progress and find clear examples of work and success criteria that show where they need to work towards next. Ask your child what their Writing goal is!

Examples of BIU walls, student work samples and students excitedly sharing their work and writing goals in Year 2 are below. They are writing entertaining procedures.
